MK3 Sportz in partnership with MVMS PTSA presents Mesa Verde PQ 2nd Annual Turkey Trot 2 2023. This Family Festival is filled with lots of fun activities, music & food for purchase.

Filipino American History Month
Filipino American History Month (FAHM) is celebrated annually in October, commemorating the arrival of the first Filipinos in modern-day Morro Bay, California on October 18, 1587. You can learn more about FAHM here and discover 10 ways to celebrate Filipino History here. Please help us celebrate Filipino American History by sharing your Filipino American History with our MVMS community by bringing your history, pictures, or mementos to the library. zoom presentation from the Amber Craig With Hope Foundation
Please join us for a zoom presentation from the Amber Craig With Hope Foundation on suicide awareness & prevention for parents and caregivers. The With Hope Foundation will be speaking with 7th and 8th grade students on Tuesday, October 24 through PE classes. Ahead of this presentation, they are offering a parent presentation on Wednesday, October 18 from 6-7:00 pm via Zoom. The parent presentation will discuss recognizing warning signs and risk factors, as well as how to talk with your child about suicide and mental health, and where to get help for your child.

Mt. Carmel Football Games Announcement
Mt. Carmel Football Games
All middle school students attending Mt. Carmel football games must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. Groups of students will no longer be allowed to enter with the parent of another student. Middle school students who attempt to enter without their parent or legal guardian will be denied admission to the game.
Shout out to Riha Das
Congratulations to Riha Das, a 7th grader here at MVMS! Her artwork, “Magical and Mystical Woods” has been selected for a Juried Exhibition and will be on display at the Norma Hertzog Community Center in Costa Mesa from October 27 to November 5, 2023, and will also be in the running for the People’s Choice Award category. If you have a chance, please go visit the exhibit to see Riha’s art, as well as all the other submissions from talented artists. If you would like to participate in voting in the People’s Choice Award category, you can vote by completing this form.
Bike Permits are required
As of October 2nd, bike permits are required for all bicycles, scooters, E-bikes and skateboards. If your student turned in the Permit Application and passed the online quiz, they should come into the front office to pick up their permit. MVMS will be conducting surprise Permit checks. We will be looking for permit# and names that match the bicycles, scooters, E-bikes and skateboards. Moving forward there will be consequences for bike permit violations.
1st offense: Warning
2nd offense: Student Conference, review of requirements with staff member/administrator and written reflection
3rd offense: Student Conference, parent contact, possible safety class participation (with SRO contact)
4th offense: Student / parent conference with possible loss of bike parking privileges
NOTE: The privilege of parking the bike/scooter/E-bike/skateboard may be suspended or revoked by administration if a student does not obey the above, or other reasonable safety rules and regulations.

BUS PASS INFORMATION
Good News! Transportation has fixed their technical difficulties and is now sending out the permanent bus passes. Your child will be notified as soon as they arrive to MVMS. If your child has lost their bus pass, please go to your original online order to purchase their replacement bus pass. Click here for transportation information.

2023-2024 MVMS Yearbook
The MVMS 2023-2024 yearbook is on sale now! Books are sold online only –
CLICK HERE to place your order. The last day to order your yearbook is Wednesday, January 24, 2024. Yearbooks are $45 and will be delivered at the beginning of June.
We do not always have extra yearbooks in our final shipment. The only way to guarantee your student receives a yearbook is to order before the January deadline.
Yearbooks sold in June are $55.

More Than A Meal Application
More Than A Meal is a program which can provide support to your family. Families who qualify for assistance may qualify for additional support including discounts on fees for SAT, ACT, AP tests, home internet costs, passes for public transportation, and application fees associated with colleges and universities. Please complete the online application or the paper application which can be obtained from the Front Office (only one application per family).
