Book Drive for Copper Canyon's
Little Free Library
A Little Free Library is a small, free-standing lending library/neighborhood book exchange, stewarded by an individual, family, business, neighborhood or community. Books are always a gift to the reader under the Little Free Library founding principles of “take a book/give a book." As of now there are Little Free Libraries in every state and in 10 countries.
After reading the story about how the Little Free Library began, four Copper Canyon students decided they wanted to build a Little Free Library for our school and neighborhood. In order for this project to come to be, the students not only researched the history of the Little Free Library but also learned how to build the library, as well as create an iMovie presentation for Mr. Shappee and Mrs. Orest. Once approval was granted, they began the planning phase for the building of their Little Free Library. They have spent a day building and several days painting the Little Free Library with the generous help from two of our Copper Canyon parents: Kevin and Cindy Angelini. We are also fortunate to have another Copper Canyon parent assisting us. Mary Church is going to help us finish the painting and design a beautiful picture on our LIttle Free Library.
In order for the next phase of this wonderful project to continue, we are asking our Copper Canyon community for their help and contribution.
Beginning Monday, October 28th, we will be collecting book donations. As you shop at the book fair and support Copper Canyon, consider donating a new or gently used children or teen books. They can be fiction or non-fiction. We will also gladly accept adult books. Please support our book drive and help our students, Copper Canyon, our neighborhood and the community create a Little Free Library.
There will be a box at the book fair and a box in the lobby for donations of new or gently used books for the Copper Canyon Little Free Library.
Why you should donate books to help Copper Canyon start its own Little Free Library?
