Students participating in spring Intramurals must have a current permission slip completed and turned in to Coach Nicholson or Coach Rabek.

Congratulations to Nyambura Sallinen and Keshvee Sekhda - their Science Fair project, IdentiCan: The App That Detects Cancer, was selected for the Innovation in Action Expo at this year's Gwinnett Regional Science and Engineering Fair. This unique competition allows students to present newly developed solutions and compete to potentially earn mentorship and funding to make their project a reality.

During the Regional Fair, they will also hold a "fan favorite" competition for the Innovation in Action projects. Students, faculty, and community members are encouraged to visit the Gwinnett Regional Fair digital platform on February 25 to view the projects in the Innovation in Action Exhibit Hall and vote for their favorites. At 5 PM on Friday, February 25, the top 3 projects with the most "fan favorite" votes will earn prizes! Click the image (next to this article) to see where to enter the Virtual Innovation Hall once on the website.

Instructions for voting are included on the Innovation in Action page - we hope everyone will visit the hall and Nyambura and Keshvee's project will earn your rating of 3 so they can be in the running for Fan Favorite!

The programs at Maxwell are open to current 5th thru 8th grades (students who will be going into 6-9th grade for school year 2022-2023). Registration will open through MyPaymentsPlus on March 1, 2022.

In accordance with Senate Bill 401, Gwinnett County Public Schools is using the Teen Lures. This session will be for 7th & 8th Grade students only. Prevention Program to educate our students on personal safety. Please use the links below to learn more about the program. GCPS has determined that an alternate parent survey will be used this school year in lieu of the RBES Survey that has been conducted in the past. Gwinnett County Public Schools will be seeking your feedback using a new instrument later this Spring. Information about this new survey will be communicated in the coming weeks.

It's hard to believe this year is more than halfway over. As we are preparing for our year-end events, PTSA's biggest need right now is a Nominating Committee. The Nominating Committee contacts potential members for the PTSA Board and provides nominations for the following positions of the PTSA Board:

Co-President (2 openings)

Vice President (3 openings)

Secretary (1 opening)

Treasurer (1 opening)

The time commitment for the Nominating Committee is minimal with 2-3 meetings between now and April 15. If you are not able to serve on Nominating Committee, please consider asking a friend to help!

The work of Nominating Committee is a short time period but is critical to the continued work of PTSA at Lanier Middle.

During the Month of February Lanier Middle School will highlight important contributions and accomplishments African Americans have made to our society on our Morning Announcement Show good Morning Lanier which airs on Tuesday and Thursday. These facts will also be shared on our Social Media platforms.

Looking to get out and try something new? Check out the planned activities in February in and around Gwinnett County.

Teachers will now be sending home an electronic progress report via email on Tuesday, February 22nd.

Mark your calendars for the annual Hook'em and Hold'em Casio Night sponsored by the Lanier Education Foundation. The festivities will begin at 6 PM on Saturday, February 26th. This year's theme is Back to the 80's. Follow this link for more information and tickets.

A reminder that March 2nd is also a Digital Learning Day (5/6). Students will be dismissed on March 3rd at approximately 1:20 PM.

Teachers are in the process of contacting parents for conferences. If you do not receive an email, a conference is not needed.

Only those students who have paid will have their picture taken during connections on March 8th. Ordering information will be coming out soon.

Screenings will take place for 6th and 8th graders on March 8th. Students were given forms to bring home on Monday, January 24th. You may also access the form here as well.

Spanish Version

This conference will be in Spanish all Spanish speakers and bilingual speakers (English/Spanish) are welcome to attend. We will have LOTS of prize drawings and relevant sessions such as ESOL presented by our GCPS ESOL Director, GCPS Parent Portal led by our Director of Student Management, and LOTS of community resource tables.
