The BIG NEWS!
Coastside Mountain Bikers is merging with Coastside on Bikes, with a new mission statement as follows:
Coastside on Bikes is a group of bike enthusiasts who support bike access for all Coastside community members. From pavement to parks, we are dedicated to preserving and expanding bike access and connectivity on the Coastside. We engage in advocacy and coalition-building with other local groups in order to urge agencies at the city and county levels to provide better trails and safer routes to work and school.
The Coastside Mountain Bikers lives on, and will represent the branch of our organization that encourages community members of all ages to access the outdoors through the sport of mountain biking. Weekly rides, social media, and trail news will remain the same through this branch of the organization.
We'll divide our newsletter into two parts: the NEWS FROM THE DIRT and NEWS FROM THE PAVEMENT. We hope you enjoy!
Finally, please click below to support our work during our biggest fundraiser of the year: Coastside Gives. Coastside Gives is on May 4th, 2023.

There are lots of weather and storm-related issues involving trail closures throughout the Bay Area. Be sure to check with local agencies to see if trails are open before you go ride. Crews have been busy with downed trees, mudslides, and other trail issues

Safe Streets Advocacy
The intersection at Kelly Ave and Highway 1 is still waiting for the traffic light to be replaced. CalTrans earlier reported that supply chain issues were holding up the delivery, and also reported that the crosswalks were scheduled for re-striping in January 2023. CoB is checking into the reason for the delay on both of these items. In the meantime, temporary portable electric signs have now been in place since December of 2022.

In memory...
A ghost bike was placed on Kelly Street where cyclist Wang Juixiang was recently hit and killed by a motorist. Our hearts go out to the victim's loved ones and to the young driver of the vehicle. Please feel free to stop by and place flowers at the site. To learn more about ghost bikes, read here: http://ghostbikes.org/
