Detailed instructions are attached below to help you schedule your interview times.
Homeroom and Instructional Resource Teachers will meet families in their classrooms. Specialist Teachers (French, Physical Education, Music, Art and Guidance) will be situated in their designated office areas. A room directory will be posted in the main entrance of the school.
Interviews are strictly 10 minutes and spaces are limited. If you require more time with a teacher, please arrange a separate meeting by telephoning the school.
Kindergarten Cap & Gown Photos
Kindergarten Cap & Gown Photographs are scheduled for Monday, March 18th in the Sacred Heart Academy gymnasium.
All families are required to book an appointment time for their child. To schedule or edit your child's scheduled appointment for the photograph, please visit the following link: https://schoolinterviews.ca/code/n4jqy. The booking system will allow you to select a time slot that works best for you and your child. Please note that each appointment slot is 15 minutes long.
For families who wish to be present during their child's appointment, please use the gymnasium entrance facing the arena. Please arrive a few minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
Cap and gown sets will be provided to all students on the day of the photo shoot. For the graduation picture, it is recommended that students wear a white blouse for females and a white collared shirt for males.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at the school office.
Thank you for your cooperation and we look forward to seeing you on March 18th.
Scalding Hazards Associated with Microwave Foods
Many of our students bring microwave foods to school in their lunch bags on a daily basis. Microwave foods are convenient for busy families and microwave ovens are thought to be “safer” than conventional ovens and stoves. However, they heat foods and liquids to very high temperatures, resulting in burns from spills, splashes and release of steam. Microwave ovens are involved in a large number of scalding incidents. Due to hazards found in a school cafeteria environment, and the inability of the teachers on supervision duty to assist every student with their microwave lunch we can no longer permit microwave foods that require boiled water such as noodles and Kraft Dinner at school. If students wish to enjoy these foods during school hours, we kindly ask that they be stored in a thermos. Thermos containers provide a safe alternative for storing and transporting hot foods and liquids without the risks associated with microwave heating.
We understand that this adjustment may require some planning and adaptation, but our primary concern is the safety and well-being of our students. By implementing this change, we aim to mitigate the potential risks associated with scalding incidents and create a safer environment for everyone at Sacred Heart Academy.
School Development Surveys
School Development Surveys are conducted annually to gather feedback from students, staff, and parents/guardians to inform the school development process. The survey results will be provided to your child’s school and used with other data to identify the school’s strengths and challenges. Your child’s school will then create and implement a plan to build on successes and address areas of challenge.
The survey is anonymous, which means that we cannot connect your survey responses to you. We encourage everyone to participate so that we have the most accurate representation of family perceptions at your school.
Please complete the survey by March 15th, 2024 by clicking on the following link: https://www.research.net/r/SDFamily2324EN. If you do not have internet access contact your school.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the school development surveys, please contact:
- Allan Johnson at 709-729-7831 or allanjohnson@gov.nl.ca or

Thank you for your participation and for being a valued member of your school community.
Reminder: Late Drop-Off Procedures
To ensure a smooth transition for all students and minimize disruptions in the classroom, we kindly request that you adhere to the following late arrival procedures:
Students arriving after 8:15 am:
- All students arriving after 8:15 am must be dropped off at the front entrance of the school.
- Students will proceed directly to the main office where the school secretary will assist them in signing in.
- After signing in your child will then be directed to their classroom.
Timely arrival is crucial for both individual student success and maintaining a productive learning environment for all. By arriving prepared and on time, students can:
- Integrate seamlessly into the lesson from the outset.
- Avoid missing important announcements and instructions.
Thank you for your continued support of our school community.
