The Gator Gazette
November 11, 2022
Gator Greetings
What a wonderful VIP Day! Thank you to all our special guests for coming to enjoy the activities with students in Grades 2-5 and a special congratulations to the 3rd Grade for their wonderful Veterans Day performance. Thank to you all of our amazing PTO volunteers that helped to make VIP Day possible. Check out the Veterans Day slideshow here.
Last week’s Gazette was incorrect about midterms. The middle of the 2nd quarter is today, but midterm reports will not be coming home until next Friday, November 18th. Parents can be looking for midterm communication from teachers next week. CogAT testing has concluded for Kindergarten but will continue next week in Grades 2 and 5.
You can support the PTO in two ways next week. The Gator Giving Drive started and runs through Friday, November 18th. The PTO is collecting items to help students in need this holiday season including new or gently used clothing, household items, and gift cards. Donated items can be placed in the Gator Giving boxes in the front vestibule and gift cards can be delivered to the office. You can also support the PTO by ordering Hot Box Pizza for this week’s Dine to Donate. A flyer is listed in the Gazette.
All families are invited to join the Allisonville Singers for a choir performance next Thursday, November 17th at 6:30 pm. The choir is made up of select 4th and 5th grade students who meet weekly after school. They are excited to share their musical gifts with our school next week!

High Ability CogAT
Families of students in grades 3 and 4 may request for their child to participate in CogAT testinguntil December 2. If you would like for your child to be tested, please reach out directly to your building assistant principal. The testing window for students in Grades 3 and 4 is December 5-16. To learn more about CogAT and how MSDWT uses results to inform high ability programming, click here.
Grades K,2 & 5
Reminder: From November 1-30, all students in grades K, 2, and 5 will be administered the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT). The CogAT provides a snapshot of your child’s abilities in the areas of verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal reasoning to determine possible placement in the district’s high-ability program, which services students in grades 3-5. If you would like to opt your child out of testing, please notify the Assistant Principal (AP) of your student’s school, who serves as the testing coordinator.

Thank you for your consideration in helping our AV community. If you are able to contribute, please consider involving your children in purchasing the items!
