Mill Valley Weekly

It is that time of year when we plant our Community Garden at Mill Valley. The Community Garden was a Muskego Elementary tradition and when the schools merged in the 2018-2019 school year, the tradition continued here at Mill Valley.

This year, we added four additional garden boxes which brings our total to 22 boxes. Kindergarten through 3rd grade students are responsible for planting a garden box. Watermelon, black beans, green peppers, potatoes, cucumbers and so much more will be growing over the summer will be harvested when we return in the fall! All produce from the Community Garden is donated to the local Muskego Food Pantry. Fourth graders will be making decor for the garden boxes in art classes.

Special THANKS to the following people/organizations for making this possible:

• Mike Ernst (4th grade teacher) and the Garden Committee for their planning and preparation
• Durham Hill for donating the compost for all the garden boxes
• Langes Country Market for donating all of the plants
• MV custodial team for taking care of watering over the summer
• PTO for funding the 4th grade garden box decorations

My name is Andy Bentley. I am from a small town in eastern Iowa. I graduated from Iowa State University and have spent most of my career in the golf industry. I have been with the district for almost three years on the grounds crew. I am looking forward to being a part of the Mill Valley team!

We wish Tony the very best of luck as he advances to the head custodian position at Lake Denoon Middle School! He will be missed here at Mill Valley.

We have an exciting announcement about the summer library program for K-8 students in Muskego Norway Schools. Students are able to check out 10-15 books that they can read over the summer and return in the fall.

If you would like your child to be able to check out 10-15 books from the library, please fill out THIS FORM.

Who is winning? Congrats 3rd graders!! You currently have the highest “percent in attendance” this school year at 96.09%. 2nd grade is 2nd with 95.71%, followed by 4th grade with 95.68%, 1st had 95.06% and our kindergartners had 94.69%.

On Monday, June 5th, popsicles will be sold during lunch recesses to support the World Wildlife Federation. Every grade will have the opportunity to help support endangered animals like gray wolves, sea turtles, red pandas, sharks, and African elephants. Please bring $1.00 on June 5 to purchase a popsicle. Thank you in advance for your support of Mrs. Patchel’s second graders and endangered animals.

Thank you to all families who registered their children for Summer Learning Academy. At this time, the Infinite Campus registration is closed, with the exceptions of All-Sport Academy and Muskego Power (2:00-3:00 session). Parents can still register for All-Sport Academy and Muskego Power through the Infinite Campus Portal.

Hello! My name is Heather Fleming. I am married and have a kindergarten daughter here at Mill Valley. We moved to the Muskego area almost 3 years ago. I have been getting more involved with Mill Valley, so I currently substitute for the Educational Assistants, and have joined the MV PTO board as a liaison. I’ve been a Real Estate agent for over six years now! In my spare time, I love spending time outdoors with my family, singing karaoke and being by the water. I’m excited to be a part of the wonderful PTO board.

Hi, my name is Michele Schaening and I have a first grader here at Mill Valley. I’m proud to say that I grew up in Muskego and am an alumni of MHS. I’m currently a domestic engineer (stay-at-home-mom), but I have a background in management financial services and training. I lived in Colorado for 20 years before moving back to this area seven years ago with my husband to raise our son. I truly love this community and all it has to offer. I look forward to helping our school and getting to know all of our amazing MV students and families.
