Hello Team Grissom,
Welcome to the 2017 - 2018 school year! I am so excited to start a new year in our new building. Thank you all for your efforts in preparing your classrooms for our ribbon cutting ceremony. I appreciate you working during your summer vacation.
First, let me welcome the following new faces to Team Grissom:
Registrar: Kim Carden
English: Nedra Goodloe, Ashley Bryant and Head Cheer Coach, Melanie League
Math: Jessica Hawkins and Boys Soccer Coach, Josh Shields
Science: Cassidy Wheeler and Tavarus Hartsfield
Social Studies: Pat Miller, Head Basketball Coach Stu Stuedeman, Head Football Coach Chip English, and Preston Judah
Art: Maggie Jobe and Deborah Stinson
Spanish: Diana Howell
JROTC: Master Sgt Derek Hamilton
Health: Pam Galbreath
Special Education: Josh Reeves and Roberto Vaz
Choral: Tucker Ratcliff
Please take a moment to introduce yourself to our new Team Grissom members.
On Monday, July 24th, Latham Methodist Church will be bringing snacks and drinks for all of our faculty and staff members. If you are in the building, please stop by the main office for a snack.
This week you will attend various PD sessions involving Advisory/Tiger Time, Bloom/BLG, Activboard Training, Teaching on the Block Schedule, and Safety Procedures. Our goal is to provide you with the necessary information, including a PowerPoint, that you will then "turn around" during Advisory the first two weeks of school.
I have included a detailed "GHS Back-to-School PD Schedule" below. All teachers are expected to attend PD and we will start at 8:00 am in the cafeteria on Wednesday, July 26th.
NOTE: ALL PRACTICES SHOULD BE SCHEDULED FOR A 4:00 PM START!
If you have any issues/concerns related to your classroom, please see Mrs. Rhoda who has a list that we will share with our building guys. Please know that I will share this list with the appropriate personnel, who will then work on your issue. Please do not ask the construction workers to stop what they are doing to help you. When unpacking, please break-down your boxes and place them in the hallway. Our custodians will be responsible for picking up boxes.
I look forward to seeing you all next Wednesday, as we will work together to continue the tradition of excellence we have at Grissom High School!

TEACHER KEY FOB INFORMATION
- Teachers can pick up key fobs and start moving into your classrooms.
- You will be required to complete paperwork for HCS Security prior to receiving your key fobs.
- Information you will be required to know for the paperwork include your drivers license, car tag and make/model of your car.
- You will not receive a key fob until this information is completed with Mrs. Rhoda in the front office.
