Sparkman Cross Country
Seniors Harrison Miller and Jake Russell ran the last Cross Country race of their High School careers Saturday, November 12 at the AHSAA State Championships in Oakville, Alabama. Harrison not only finished 38th out of 140 runners in the Section 7A event, he set a new personal record of 16:44. Harrison has had an impressive career as a Sparkman Senator with 11 top 15 Varsity finishes, 7 of them being top 5 and has qualified for State finals in 2015 and 2016. Jake finished 46th with a time 16:54 for the 5K distance. With an equally impressive Varsity career, Jake has 16 top 15 finishes, 9 of them top 5. This season Jake was the Robin Gaines Team Trail Champion with a 1st place in the October race held at Bob Jones HS. He has qualified for State in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Congratulations to both Harrison and Jake!
