The Way of the Wildcat

COMPASSION: The Ntambo (lion) is one of our Silas Willard Wildcats. The lion represents the incredibly important skill of demonstrating compassion. For the purpose of September's monthly character focus we defined compassion in the following manner:

• Caring about each others’ needs

• Showing kindness when we can

• Desiring to help people in need

Students and staff who were caught being compassionate earned a leaf to place upon the compassion tree in the foyer of the front hall. These leaves will be added to our compassion tree! Those that went above and beyond in demonstrating compassion earned a red heart. The 212 students that earned a leaf or heart were able to have a dance party on the 3rd of October.

• Pull ALL the way up in the "U" area. Trust the process and follow the staff members' guidance in the "U" area pick-up. If a staff member is asking you to pull up or motioning for you to pull up, simply do so. We are all doing our best to get you in and out of arrival/dismissal as quickly and safely as possible.
• Pulling up all the way through the "U" area allows us to get moe cars off of Seminary St.
• Be mindful of our crossing guards as they are doing their best to provide safe crossing for all of our Wildcats.

TRUSTWORTHINESS: The Mishebeshu (lynx) is one of our Silas Willard Wildcats. The lynx represents the incredibly important skill of trustworthiness. For the purpose of our monthly focus we are going to define trustworthiness in the following manner:

• Honesty: Telling the truth

• Courageously doing the right thing

• Being Reliable: Doing what you say you are going to do; people can depend on you

School Pictures will take place on Wednesday, October 12th! Interstate Studios will be here to take our student and staff photos. Picture Forms went home on Friday. Please check your student's backpack for these! Call the school office with any questions.

We will be having a Scholastic Book Fair at Silas Willard, starting on the 18th of October. This will be open the firstr night of Parent Teacher Conferences on October 20.

Please join us on either October 20 or October 25 for parent/teacher conferences. Conferences will begin at 3:30pm each night. Please connect with your teacher to schedule a conference today!
