• Students will all be checked out 4 tickets to sell on Monday, September 26 and Tuesday, September 27 during band classes.
• Students must write name on back of ticket when they are checked out
• Money from ticket sales and or unsold tickets MUST be returned by Tuesday, October 4, 2022.
  
• Parents attending Band Fest along with siblings will need a ticket.
• INVITE friends and family, all proceeds directly benefit the Mustang Band. More tickets can be checked out upon request.

THIS 6 week check is the only 6 week check that causes a student to LOSE eligibility.

All other grading periods, the 9 week grade is the only one that can cause a student to lose eligibility. Their 3 week grade and 6 week grades can allow them regain IF they are passing ALL classes (not just the one they may have failed that caused the loss of eligibility). Just like the verification to lose, this grade check is a week prior to them actually regaining eligibility.

ALL students are eligible when we are on a one week or longer break, therefore, October 7- 17, 2022, ALL students are eligible regardless of grades.

At this time, all CHARMS fees should be paid in full. SKYWARD fees have been added for this year and most should now be appearing for you in skyward and ready to be paid. Please make the first $100 Skyward fee by the end of September and continue $100 payments until paid in full. All students should show a $200 activity fee, school owned instrument fees (some students), and $100 Percussion Camp fees should also be showing at this time. These were all acknowledged and described in the registration paperwork.

Because these fees are all added manually, it takes some time and I was waiting to confirm with our bookkeeper that she had enough time to add all of these prior to letting you know that they are ready to be paid. WITH THAT SAID, IF you paid your skyward fees in full at registration, PLEASE do not pay these online. Now that the charge is there, our treasurer will be able to cut a check to the School for those who opted to pay in full at registration. If you have already seen these charges and paid proactively, please contact my via e-mail and copy treasurer@sachseband.org so we don't pay the district for the skyward fees that may have been paid twice. It will be mush easier to reconcile that through boosters rather than the district.

Side note regarding fees, only those with an outstanding balance from LAST YEAR are on our LOP list. Students will have until the end of December 2022 to get all band fees paid prior to being added to the LOP. As always, if a specific payment plan is needed please e-mail hctaylor@garlandisd.net and treasurer@sachseband.org so we can work out a payment plan.

THIS week, rehearsal attendance will affect your participation to games. ANY unexcused absence from rehearsal will result in losing privileges at the game. The privileges lost will be assigned on a case by case basis. This also means that if you lose the privilege of going to the game, you will also have an alternate assignment for the game performance. This will be a video recorded playing assignment that must be completed during the game and submitted by the end of the game. We will go over these details in class next week. Make sure if you are sick to provide a doctor's not to be excused and communicate! As a reminder, all regular appointments need to scheduled outside of rehearsal times. Tuesday afternoons and Wednesday afternoons need to be where these things go.

We will determine by mid-week if we are moving forward with the trip based on numbers. Please do not purchase trip insurance until we update that we are proceeding. You will receive an update on the status by the end of the week to allow time to purchase insurance if needed. If you were contemplating signing up and would like to, please complete 2 steps below no later than Tuesday. Paperwork will be reviewed on Wednesday.

If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the district Volunteer application as soon as possible. We need to be able to verify you are cleared prior to the event and it is HIGHLY unlikely that you will be cleared the day you fill out the application and will be dependent on how busy that office is. If you are interested in driving a truck or pulling a trailer, you will need to complete the 4 steps listed below.

3. Fill out the Occumed Authorization and go to a participating drug screening facility listed to complete drug test.
4. Notify Mrs. Taylor once all 3 above steps are completed so I can follow up for clearance.

Parking reminders will remain the same for the remainder of the season unless noted. Below will be our regular schedule moving forward:

Keep in mind that our Monday A1 CLASS will meet at 7 AM on the Turf Field. The bandhall side door will be open from 6:30- 6:45 AM. Make sure you park and your student can enter the side door in this time frame. If after 6:45 students will need to be dropped off at the back of the school. The side bandhall door will CLOSE AT 6:45 AM! Please make sure that you are earlier rather than later so we are able to start right on time. Students can come dressed for marching band with a change of clothes if they are in the A1 class. Students will be dismissed from the field by 8:45 AM to change and get ready for the remainder of the day.

Please continue to park in a parking place when picking up students from all practices/ events.

Students should be practicing All- State Music at home. We have already started with pass-offs and will continue to do so on B days. Students should have concert instruments on every B day along with their marching instrument as well.

First Grading Period:

Varsity: 1 etude beginning to end performed for the class for feedback. Keep in mind that this doesn't need to be full tempo, only the tempo you can perform consistently beginning to end for the first etude selected. Also keep in mind that the earlier you get feedback, the sooner you are working to refine this music for the audition process coming up!

Non Varsity: 1 etude 2/3 of one etude performed for the class for feedback. Keep in mind above mentioned regarding tempo and feedback; student may perform varsity level requirements if prepared.

Sub Non Varsity: 1 etude 1/2 of one etude performed for the class for feedback. Keep in mind above mentioned regarding tempo and feedback; student may perform non-varsity or varsity level requirements if prepared.

Sub Non Varsity A: 1 etude Freshmen cuts of one etude performed for the class for feedback.

Keep in mind above mentioned regarding tempo and feedback; student may perform Sub-non-varsity, non-varsity or varsity level requirements if prepared.

Please make sure that you have all rehearsals on your schedule and are present. Marching band is the ultimate team sport and we must have everyone on the field learning new drill and cleaning together. We are off to a great start, but need that momentum to continue strong going forward. Any absence should be communicated by the student to a director prior to the absence in person. If absolutely necessary an e-mail should be sent in advance for any absence. Keep in mind per your handbook what an excused absence may be; plan ahead to make sure you are taking care of attendance requirements.

TUBAS/ Percussion

Monday following rehearsal, tuba racks need to come in to the landing outside the bandhall. At the end of your B Day band class, tubas need to go in cases and on these racks.

Make sure to load your equipment immediately at the end of the school day before leaving for the day. You will meet at Williams stadium 30 minutes prior to rehearsal to get your equipment off of trucks or trailers that have been transported for you. TUBAS if you have your own transportation for your equipment, please make sure that Mr. Tucker is aware of these accommodations so there is no delay in loading equipment.

TUBAS: Make sure that at the end of your B day class that your instrument goes into the case and is in the Loading Carts so you don't have to come in after school.

The band calendar has also been adjusted to give the students a break during a portion of this week. Please refer to the band calendar and make sure that you are clear for all band activities as fall break is at our busiest "In Season" of the year!
