End of 3rd Quarter
Today officially marks the end of 3rd quarter. Be on the lookout for grade cards next week!
3rd Grade Surgery!
3rd Graders got to dissect informational texts in order to extract text features embedded within them. Students were surprised and excited to scrub in today! Teachers even went all out and showed up in scrubs!
Become a Heart Hero!
Student's have the opportunity to help The American Heart Association by finding sponsors who are willing to make a donation to support the battle against heart disease. Please have your child print an online donation report and place it in the provided donation envelope to be returned to school by Friday, March 24th. Just follow these three quick steps:
- Download the Kids Heart Challenge app or visit heart.org/KHC to register.
- Help your student choose a daily health challenge: MOVE MORE or BE KIND.
- Set a fundraising goal with your student and send emails to invite friends and family to support it.
Reminder! TONIGHT!
Taste the Rainbow!
We followed the rainbow and found a pot of gold in our teachers and staff at Blair Oaks Intermediate! We sure are LUCKY to have such amazing people educating our children! We'd like to show our staff how much we appreciate all of their hard work by providing them with a snack day to "Taste the Rainbow." Below is a sign-up listing all of the colors of the rainbow. Please sign up for the color of your choice and bring a corresponding dish (ex: Red- strawberries and fruit dip, Green- guacamole, salad, Yellow- bananas, lemon drops). Please list in the comments what you will be contributing. We ask that all donated items be brought into the intermediate office no later than the morning of March 22nd. As always, thank you for your continued support!!
Counseling with Ms. Katnik
We have discussed a variety of important topics in Counseling this month! We started off the month by celebrating National School Counseling Week and then discussed the importance of demonstrating acceptance / tolerance as well as being honest / trustworthy. Throughout this month, we also had the opportunity to review and practice the following mindfulness techniques in Counseling: Mindful Coloring, Take Five Breathing, and Body Scan Meditation. You can expand on what we have discussed in Counseling at home by having a conversation with your child about any of the topics we have covered and asking them to demonstrate and/or share with you how to do some of the mindfulness techniques we did together in class!
Attn: 5th Grade Parents!
It may be hard to believe, but it is already time to start thinking about middle school! Be on the lookout for an email from Blair Oaks Middle School Principal, Dr. Melinda Aholt. She will be reaching out to share information about registration and planning for next year. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to either one of us!
