Myiesha Majors, Chairwoman
Hello Etiwanda School District Parents! I am excited to be your AAPEAC Chairwoman for the 2023-2024 school year. It's a pleasure to serve as AAPEAC's Chairwoman for a third year. My goal has always been to be part of my son's educational journey, and being part of AAPEAC has given me the opportunity to do so. I strive to stay engaged and involved every school year. I am honored to partner with our district leadership as well as our AAPEAC representatives to amplify our children's achievements, support diversity and inclusion in our classrooms, and work to close any learning/testing gaps that may be present. We would love for your engagement to ensure our kids continue to receive the support our district strives to provide. Please reach out if you have any questions.
Tawni Flot-Williams, Vice-Chairwoman
Thank you AAPEAC for the opportunity to serve as your Vice-Chairwoman. I remain committed to empowering parents, fostering a sense of identity, and nurturing the minds of our youth. Our passion for equity and dedication to uplifting the voices of African-American families continues to be the driving force of AAPEAC. I remain humbled and honored to serve this final term as Vice-Chairwoman and continue on this journey towards greater inclusivity, equity, and understanding.
Nicole Edun, Secretary
I extend my warmest welcome as we embark on the 2023-2024 school year together. As your AAPEAC secretary, a wife, and mommy of Misan and Gbubemi, my Grapeland Grizzlies, and Jonathan, my Etiwanda Eagle, I am honored to serve alongside you in our shared mission to create inclusive and empowering educational environments. My primary focus will be on fostering strong relationships within our schools and nurturing collaboration among teachers, students, parents, and administrators. Together, as we navigate this journey, we will amplify our impact and create lasting change. Let's approach this year with enthusiasm, actively participating in AAPEAC initiatives, events, and discussions as we work together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students and community. Welcome to an exciting year of growth, empowerment, and transformative impact!

Equitable Practices in Etiwanda
Equity work in Etiwanda is largely focused on the work of Dr. Sharroky Hollie and his book, Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Teaching and Learning. Dr. Hollie has facilitated several workshops for our administrators and teachers throughout the past several years. He and his team have also mentored and coached our equity cadre members.
Each Etiwanda school has one or two teacher representatives who collectively compose the ESD Equity Cadre. Cadre members work alongside district leadership to facilitate learning and reflective activities for all teachers during monthly staff meetings. These activities create a better understanding of cultural backgrounds and strategies for validating and affirming culture in classrooms.
This year, Dr. Hollie's team will also begin working with volunteer teachers through a process called Instructional Support and Development Cycles. During these cycles, teachers will participate in classroom observations and coaching sessions.
We are excited to continue our partnership with Dr. Hollie for the benefit of all students. The Etiwanda team is committed to broadening perspectives, further developing instructional strategies, and making a positive difference for our students.
Full-Day Kindergarten
Starting this year, Etiwanda School District has implemented a full-day kindergarten model across all its elementary schools. This change offers significant advantages to students. With extended classroom time, students have more opportunities for interactive learning experiences, fostering improved social and academic growth. This initiative also allows teachers to engage students in a comprehensive curriculum, encompassing essential subjects and activities. The transition to full-day kindergarten is designed to better prepare young learners for their educational journey.
ESD is Seeking Part-Time Employees Interested in Making a Difference in Children's Lives
