PTA NEWS!
THANK YOU for all the support shown this school year! We had a successful year because of our Roadrunner Family! Please join us for our last meeting of the school year this Wednesday May 17th at 7:45 in the library! This will take place prior to the Thank You Volunteer breakfast hosted by Randolph at 8 am!
News in the Community!
Goochland Day is May 20th! Both our "Girls on the Run" program and "Youth United" organization will be participating in the parade. We hope to see many roadrunners throughout the day!
We are excited to share a new partnership with the YMCA and Feed More. Feed More's Market Bus will make stops each week at alternating locations including Byrd, Randolph, and the YMCA. The Market Bus will provide free fruits, vegetables, and other food items for free to children in need. A few things to note with the bus...
- The bus is only for children ages 6-18.
- Children must accompany the parent/adult. Only children are allowed to go onto the bus to shop. Parents/adults will not be allowed on the bus. (This is Feed More's policy.)
- The bus does not require any proof of income etc. to shop the bus.
Flyers with dates and locations are attached.
INTERSESSION INFORMATION
"Registration for the Goochland County Public Schools June intersession is now open until Friday, May 26! An intersession is an opt-in, multi-day learning experience that combines literacy, research, creativity, and fun at no cost to families. Each intersession will provide a unique learning opportunity that merges student interest and teacher passion. From Cooking with STEM to Game Design, students will have the chance to explore a wide range of topics. Intersession will run Tuesday-Friday, June 20-23 from 8:00 - 2:30 at Goochland Elementary School (elementary sessions) and 9:00 - 3:30 at the Secondary Complex (secondary sessions). GCPS will provide student transportation to and from designated stops across the county at no cost and breakfast and lunch for purchase. Transportation will only be provided at the beginning and end of a full day of intersessions. Students attending a half-day intersession will need to make arrangements for mid-day transportation. Registration is based on the student’s current grade level (2022-23 school year). Please understand that availability of these sessions is contingent on enrollment numbers. Sessions may not be offered if enrollment is low, so we encourage all to register soon! In the event that a course reaches student capacity, students will be added to a waitlist automatically.
Visit https://gcpsintersessions2023.coursestorm.com/ for a complete list of course offerings and to register! If you have any questions don't hesitate to reach out to the Intersession Coordinators at intersessions@glnd.k12.va.us.
