Dear TVMS families,

As we reflect on the spirit of gratitude during this season, I want to extend my deepest appreciation to all the parents who participated in American Education Week. Your involvement in our classrooms added value to our learning environment and reinforced the connection between home and school.

For this upcoming week, we will have half days on Monday (11/20) and Tuesday (11/21), with dismissal at 12:15 PM. School will be closed Wednesday through Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. On Monday, students will attend all of their classes as usual, but will have shortened class periods. On Tuesday, we will follow a modified schedule, including the Den Dash (1 mile Turkey Trot), a gratitude lesson, and study hall before lunch shifts. Students will also attend their period 4 and 5 classes on this day. Please remind your child to dress appropriately for the outdoor run/walk.

Parent Teacher Conferences will take place Monday through Wednesday for parents that have already scheduled conferences. Conferences on Monday will be in person, and conferences on Tuesday and Wednesday will be virtual.

Our afterschool program is currently at full capacity. We will be offering a spring session in February with some new after-school opportunities for our students. Information will be coming out after our winter break about sign ups.

Students will visit and purchase during ELA classes in the Media Center between November 14-21st. We will also be open during lunch shifts with passes and after-hours during Parent/Teacher conferences on November 20th. We will be accepting ewallets, cash, and credit cards. Free Parenting Classes - As educators, we are well aware of the ever-increasing pressures placed on students. The academic demands, social challenges, and rapidly changing world can be overwhelming. Our Guiding Good Choices parenting classes can equip parents and/or grandparents with the knowledge and skills to reduce the risk that their children will use drugs and alcohol or engage in other dangerous behaviors. These classes are for families with children 9 - 14 yrs. old and held over Zoom.

It is mandatory that all parents/ guardians verify and/ or update emergency information for each child each school year. Updating this information provides us with the most current emergency contact information, and also ensures that you are receiving important information and updates for HCPSS and TVMS. Log in to HCPSS Connect, select the More Options tab on the left and then select Family File in the center column.

HCPSS no longer will use Nutrislice for school menus or MySchoolBucks for meal payments. LINQ Connect is a secure, online portal that allows families to view breakfast and lunch menus, make online meal payments, monitor their child’s account, schedule automatic recurring payments, set up low balance alerts, submit a Free and Reduced Meals program application, and more. Details and information are available online.

Students are not permitted to use their personal technology devices (phones) during school time, including lunch, recess and hallway transitions. This is in accordance with the Board of Education Policy 8080. If a student is seen with their device they will be expected to put it away immediately. If chronic issues persist, disciplinary actions may be implemented in alignment with the HCPSS Code of Conduct.

To support this, please refrain from calling or texting your child during school hours. If you need to get a message to them or contact them, please call the Front Office at 410-313-8711

Food delivery services (i.e. Door Dash, Uber Eats, etc.) are not allowed. Delivery will be refused as we do not have the capability to process this during the school day. If a parent would like to bring their child's lunch to the school, we ask that you do so prior to the start of your child's lunch shift. Parents will need to leave the lunch with our Front Office staff.
