Daylight Savings
Don't forget to turn back your clocks this weekend!
Adjusting to the time change can be a challenge for young children. Here are a few strategies for helping your child adjust:
- Gradually adjust meal times.
- Stick with a bedtime routine and remember, sleep begets sleep.
- Provide children with quiet, tech-free time as it gets closer to bedtime.
- Be patient and don't forget to take of yourself.
Town Meeting/Green Meadow Building Project
For a successful new Green Meadow Elementary School, the next required step is the Debt Exclusion Vote: Tuesday, November 7, 2023 (regularly scheduled statewide) 7 AM - 8 PM at Fowler for all voting precincts. Voting can also take place at Maynard Town Hall during regular business hours until noon on Monday, November 6, 2023.
On Wednesday, October 25th, the MSBA Board of Directors voted to increase the construction funding limits on the GMES project and others that achieved Project, Scope and Budget Agreement in the same timeframe we did, on eligible construction costs from $432/SF to $568/SF. This increases the maximum MSBA grant, which needs to be confirmed in our Agreement, on the project by approximately $7M, so the MSBA share vs. Maynard share ratio changes from 35%-65% to 44%-56%.

Curriculum and Assessment
What is the BBST Process at Green Meadow?
BBST stands for the Building-Based Support Team. Our Green Meadow team is made up of administrators, academic coaches, teachers, counselors, behavior analysts and the referring staff member. The primary goal of our BBST process is to increase student success academically and socially in the general education classroom and across school settings. The BBST members meet weekly throughout the school year.
Any staff member can refer a student to the BBST team. The referral process includes reaching out to the student's family to discuss any concerns, checking in with staff members who work with the child, as well as, analyzing current academic and non-academic data. Together the team looks at the whole child, taking into consideration a student’s academic and non-academic needs, including any medical needs or concerns shared by the family. If needed, classroom-based supports and strategies are recommended, and a timeline for implementation and review is established. These recommendations are based on the needs of the child and data is collected to determine if the intervention or support was successful. The referring staff member communicates the recommendations of the team to the student's family and provides regular updates. The team meets again to discuss any data collected and determine if the recommendations were successful or if further interventions are needed.
If a parent or caregiver has concerns about how their child is accessing the general education curriculum or classroom, the first step would be to contact the classroom teacher. Together, the parent and teacher can determine whether they would like to utilize the BBST process as a way to learn more about how best to support the child.
