HF-L GREEN TEAM
On Sunday, 10/16/22 , the HF-L Green Team had its 17th Annual Fall Trashwalk!
Thirty-seven intrepid students came out and cleared the village of incalculable pounds of litter.
The Green Team is the high school's storied student-driven environmental club which aims to model sustainable practices and make our school community a greener place to be. The Eco-Geeks, the club's educational arm, helps to educate students about environmental issues and how to live more sustainably.
PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES
HF-L High School is excited to share that starting this year, Schoology, our learning management system that connects classroom activities and assignments in an online environment now directly communicates with SchoolTool which is the School’s on-line grade book. Both School Tool and Schoology are accessible to parents (https://www.hflcsd.org/page/schoology-parent-account).
We understand how busy students, parents, and staff all are throughout the school year. Our use of emails, phone calls, Zoom, Schoology, and SchoolTool are all meant to help parents keep track of the academic performance of your child while they attend high school. With your student having numerous teachers, these systems allow for streamlined communication.
Therefore, the HF-L High School is refining our approach to Parent/Teacher Conferences. In our experience parent-teacher conferences as a single event are not as effective as ongoing, consistent, and timely communication. In addition we have seen a significant decrease in parent scheduled appointments with staff on designated conference days.
However, our teachers remain committed to assisting our learners and improving communication with families through various strategies:
- Keeping SchoolTool gradebook up to date
- Directly communicating with families when a student struggles or has new success in class
- Initiating or participating in conferences as needed with families anytime throughout the school year
I encourage you to include your child when reviewing SchoolTool. Many of your questions can be answered during this discussion. If you schedule a conference with teachers, we encourage you to include your child. We believe it is important that students partner with teachers and parents to remain responsible for their learning.
