SHES Weekly Update

We wanted to take a moment and thank you all for your flexibility with this year. We are working very hard to create a positive and inclusive environment for your children. To move forward again, we will be adding back another option to our morning drop-off, before school recess! While this is incredibly exciting and a step towards pre-pandemic life, we are asking that parents only drop off their children at the playground. We understand that walking your children to their classroom door is the main priority for some parents. If this is something that you would like to still do you can, but at 8:45 am. Before 8:45 am there will not be any supervision in the hallways as teachers will be finishing up their prep for the day and/or last-minute meetings. Anyone in the hallways will be asked to go to the playground where we have supervision. Here you can find a breakdown of the morning schedule:

8:20 am - Breakfast only

8:20 - 8:45 am - Hallways and classrooms remain free of students and families

8:35 - 8:45 am - Drop off at playground only

8:45 - 8:50 am - Drop off at classroom only

Thank you again for your flexibility.

We are on a regular schedule all week, meaning students start with their homeroom teacher.

2021 Alpine Education Foundation “Back to the 80’s” Gala Come join us on Saturday, September 18th for the Back to the 80’s Gala. The Gala will feature dinner, auctions and live music by San Diego’s own Radio Thieves; 80’s dress is required…. This year held at Joan MacQueen Middle School, this fun Gala is AEF’s premier fund-raising event to raise funds for enriched Wheel of Experts STEAM education programs in Alpine schools. Help us maintain Alpine Union School District the Destination District of the East County!

• Custodian - Under general direction of the Principal and the direction of the head custodian, to keep assigned building areas clean, sanitary, safe and orderly; to periodically do special cleaning and building maintenance; and to do related work as required.
• Instructional Assistant, Special Education - Under the direction of a Special Education teacher or other assigned administrator, assist in the instructional program and behavioral management of physically, emotionally and learning disabled students in Special Day Class, Resource Specialist Programs and/or any other regular education of special education program; provide instruction and a positive role model to students in basic living skills, social interactions and academic development.

We are thrilled to be offering MAD Science free of charge this year to our students. This class takes place after school from 3 - 4 pm every Thursday for four weeks (10/7, 10/14, 10/21, & 10/28). Throughout the year we will have multiple sessions for different grade levels. This first session will be offered to first and second grade students only. Class space is limited to 30 students so we will have a lottery system to determine which students will get a space. Families of first and second graders, please fill out this form by September 20 if you would like your child entered into the lottery for a spot.

The next early dismissal day is Wednesday, September 22.
