2020 WIDA ELD SCOS Kickoff Fiesta!
2020 WIDA ELD SCOS Kickoff Fiesta! A Celebration of equitable access to content and language through cultural collaboration and integration
We are EMERGING! With the 2020 WIDA ELD SCOS and inspired by the big idea of collaboration promoted by the ELD standards, the ML/EL lead teachers of Robeson, Bladen, Sampson, and Beaufort counties engaged our local academic leaders in a multimodal ELD session on Friday January 20th, 2023.
By means of a kickoff FIESTA! A celebration of equitable access to content and language through cultural collaboration and integration, the PSRC academic coaches along with curriculum supervisors and the ML/EL staff received essential tools to involve themselves in the district rollout and implementation of the WIDA ELD standards.
As Robeson County develops its leverage leadership model with a top-down approach, our PSRC ML/EL program will emulate this model as the main strategy to inform the district stakeholders on how to efficiently use the standards to support multilingual learners in their mainstream classrooms. The agenda for the day included Dr. MariaRosa Rangel as our keynote speaker, a bilingual collaborative bingo, and a series of activities to familiarize our audience with the resources offered by Title III NCDPI. This traveling kickoff fiesta will be replicated in the participating counties with the use of the resources created by the leadership team. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1bEDyPVKHxiRM8uU8cHlSQGp71Y07XrhumCW3FIfcWuQ/edit#slide=id.p

Faces of Collaboration
Let's remember that we all are teachers of language, and we are all teachers of reading in core areas. We hope that this effort aids the district stakeholders to develop ownership of the standards to promote equitable services to our learners as a shared goal in and outside the district. One Team, One Goal! Thanks to all participants. It was an amazing collaborative learning experience.
