Freshmen Academic Planning Presentations
Coronado 9th graders will participate in academic planning presentations November 7 - 9 in room 200. These presentations are being hosted by our CHS counseling team and will cover academic requirements and pertinent information needed for a successful high school career. All of the Freshmen English Classes have been assigned a day to attend the presentation as a class. Students are encouraged to bring their Chromebooks to follow along during the presentation.

21st Annual HBCU Festival (HYBRID)
Welcome to the 2023 Annual HBCU (Historically Black College & University) College Festival
Greetings on behalf of the Alfred Street Baptist Church HBCU Festival Committee,
We are excited to announce that registration is now open for our 21st Annual HBCU Festival:

Please note, each attendee must pre-register and have their own ticket (QR code) to enter the festival.
The festival will be held November 17-18, 2023 in a hybrid format.
Virtual: November 17th from 4-8pm and November 18th from 9am-4pm
In-person: Saturday, November 18th from 9am-4pm
LOCATION: The St. James Sports Complex
(6805 Industrial Road, Springfield, VA 22151)
Festival benefits include:
- All accredited HBCUs invited to participate
- On-the-spot admissions decisions (virtual and onsite)
- Instrumental and vocal music auditions (virtual and onsite)
- Seminars on preparing for the college admissions process, financial aid and scholarships, and student life
- Essay/personal statement writing assistance and interview coaching
- Student prizes and giveaways

The Seal of Biliteracy Application is Open!
A letter to our Seniors from Assistant Principal Melissa Robertson
Hello Seniors!
The application for the Seal of Biliteracy is open! The Seal of Biliteracy is an award for students who are proficient in two or more languages. Here are the requirements to earn the Seal:
-Must be a senior or a junior who is graduating early
-Must have a 2.0 average or higher in all English coursework
-Demonstrate proficiency in one or more languages other than English by completing one of the following options:
-An Advanced Placement (AP) World Language Exam with a score of 3 or higher
-An International Baccalaureate (IB) World Language Exam with a score of 4 or higher
-A district-approved language exam with a passing score
I am hoping to schedule proficiency exams for sometime in March. Students who have already passed a World Language AP exam DO NOT need to apply for the Seal and will automatically receive it.
