Six Flags Read to Succeed- Read to Succeed is an exciting program that encourages students in grades K through 6 to read for fun. Students who complete six hours of recreational reading earn a free ticket to Six Flags Arlington! Deadline is February 15th. Download form below, fill it out and send it to me via text or email.

Hello scholars, this week for your OLS lesson you will continue Unit 5: Writing to a Prompt.

During our CC session, we will focus on revising and editing an expository prompt.

I'm looking forward to "seeing" all of you during our Writing Workshop this Wednesday!

Please continue to work on completing all Math + Red and Stride Math lessons as you see them assigned in your daily plan and all Teacher Graded Assignments listed below.

Looking Back -

We wrapped up our first look at energy with the practical uses of thermal energy in our lives – from melting ice to heating our homes. Next, we will investigate how sound waves come at us and how we interpret them. It’s a great way to investigate another connection between our bodies and matter.

Looking Ahead –

We will move on next week to an exploration of sound. How is it created? How do we hear it? What makes one sound different from another? This is a great way to start our understanding of waves and how they move through matter and space.

Continue to devote one hour (or two 30 minute sessions) to Stride Science lessons each week.

History for the week of Valentine's: How is your knowledge of Valentine’s trivia? Who was the first person to make chocolate for Valentine’s Day? What countries celebrate Valentine’s Day the most? Who was Bishop Valentine and what did his life have to do with Valentine’s Day? Check out this video for the answers to these questions.

Hello 4th graders, this week we are beginning unit 6 - The Early Twentieth Century. I will be out of the office next week and Mrs. Watt will be holding 2 social studies classes on Tuesday, February 12th. One session will be held at 9:00 and one at 11:00. You will be invited to one of those 2 sessions. If you would like to share the oral report you created in unit 5, lesson 10 you will receive an extra credit grade in the grade book. If you have questions, please refer to the email I sent on 2/6 or email me for clarification. If you prefer you can email your report to Mrs. Watt for extra credit instead.

Please complete these 2 lessons this week:

• Lesson 2: Railroads Come to Texas

We will resume our regular schedule on the 19th.
