CLAT Launches Virtual Coffees with Legislators

The 2022 session of the Iowa General Assembly is now underway and there are already dozens of bills related to education. The Community Legislative Action Team is a great opportunity to get involved and advocate for public education in our community. CLAT holds regular sessions with members of the legislature. Its next virtual coffee is on Saturday, February 12 at 9:00 AM. Click here learn more and register to receive a link to the meeting.

Parks and Rec, DMPS Offer Youth Soccer

DMPS and Des Moines Parks and Recreation team up to offer a variety of sports programs for students, including both PeeWee (ages 3-6) and Youth (grades 1-7) soccer leagues. The season runs from early April thru mid-May, and registration is now open. To sign up for the PeeWee league click here and for the Youth league click here.

Testing Options for COVID-19 in Des Moines

With the COVID-19 positivity rate as high as 35% this week, demand for testing continues to be great. Here are three options if you are needing to be tested:

Nomi Health - DMPS continues to host Nomi Health test sites at two locations in Des Moines. Click here for information and to make an appointment.
Polk County Health Department - PCHD offers test kits and additional resources on testing. Visit their web site for more information.
U.S. Postal Service - USPS will deliver four free test kits to any residential address beginning later this month. To sign up for a delivery, click here.
