31- 1st grade to Explore More Children's Museum 11:40 – 2:20

We are in need of volunteers to help out on February 10! Fine Earth Landscaping has generously donated approximately 30,000 lbs of brown landscape stone to help us continue to beautify our cafeteria courtyard and they will be delivering it on Friday morning, February 10 (there is no school for students that day). We will need help moving it from the front of the school to the courtyard. If you are able to help out please call the office and let Kim Wisman know or you may send her an email at kwisman@rockingham.k12.va.us.

February Parent-Teacher Conference Info

Teachers will be sending home a sign up sheet (if they haven’t already done so) for optional parent conferences. On Thursday, February 9, from 3:15-7:15 and then again on Friday, February 10, from noon- 3pm we will have time set aside for parents who would like a conference (in-person, on the phone, or over Zoom). Be on the lookout for the sheet to come home!

The 2023 Mountain View Geography Bee was held on Thursday, January 19. Nine fourth and fifth grade participants answered challenging questions about local, Virginia, US, and world geography. Congratulations to our champion, Amelia Roderick, and our second place winner, Royce Mouton. We are proud of all our participants. Way to go!

Once all information is provided, you will receive a scheduled screening appointment for a later date to see if your child qualifies for our program.

KINDERGARTEN

We encourage families to complete the registration online using the link that will be provided on our website www.rcps.net starting March 7th (Be sure to select 2023-24 school year). If you are unable to access the online registration form, you may stop by Mountain View on March 7 from 9:00-3:00 or March 8 from 9:00-6:00 and we will gladly assist you.

NOTE: A copy of a current physical examination form and a complete immunization record MUST be provided before a child begins school.

Yearbooks are now on sale for $20! You can purchase a yearbook online OR by cash or check. Please fill out the order form and return to school with payment or you may use the link below to purchase a yearbook online. The deadline to order a yearbook is March 3, 2023. We do not order extra yearbooks, so please order by the deadline if you would like one!

If your child is going to be absent from school, please call the office at 540-438-1965 or email mvesattendance@rockingham.k12.va.us. If you are planning to take a vacation or your child will be out of school for an extended period of time, please contact the office. Thank you!

The parent portal is an online portal accessible anywhere on the web that parents can log in to and see all of their children in one place, their grades, assignments, scores, attendance, schedules, and teacher comments for each school your children attend.

Parents need to contact the school to get access information to create an account in PowerSchool.

Free and Reduced Meal Applications are now available for the 21-22 school year. Although all children are currently eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch meals during the school day, completing a meal application is still recommended if you believe you qualify. The qualification letter that is sent back to the household can be used for proof of eligibility for other program benefits and discounts, such as the Emergency Broadband Benefit. To apply, please complete the online meal application at www.myschoolapps.com, or fill out the attached application and return to your child's school or mail to: Food and Nutrition Services, 1210 N. Liberty St., Harrisonburg, VA, 22802.
