WORLD CHANGERS 2018
Houston, Texas June 18-23
The Briefing
We'll be paired up with a dozen other groups from around the nation in order to come together and serve this great city and minister to its people. It's not easy and it'll be trying for both adults and students but it'll be worth it. Continue to read through our details to understand what you, your friends, or your students will be involved with.
THE BIG PICTURE
World Changers’ Mission:
- To serve churches in their mission of making disciples by providing missions experiences that develop the heart of students for serving others and sharing the gospel
- To serve through construction and servant evangelism, seeking to give hope to residents and members of the local community. By addressing real needs through housing rehabilitation, students are able to put their faith into action and share the Gospel message.
Why are you here?
- We want to see Christ glorified and known - at the end of the day, we don’t want the praise or thanks of those we are serving; instead, we want to glorify God. Our construction work is simply a means for us to express the Gospel through our actions and as a way of entering into Gospel-centered conversations and relationships with those we encounter. We want to proclaim the truth of the gospel boldly among all nations so that “every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:10-11)
- We care and love for God’s people - if we lack love in our hearts, then the actions of our hands is just a forced, works-based attempt to earn favor with God or with man. At the heart of our mission is our love for the people around us, even those we might not know or feel comfortable around.
Why would you want to do this?
- We understand the Gospel – we know who we are and that we have no hope in this life without Christ, who stepped in and saved us not just from eternal separation, but from us chasing stupid things. We understand who we truly are IN Him. We are given a purpose and someone that is worthy of worship, and because we understand the Gospel it leads to everything else.
- God has given us time, talents, energy, and resources NOT for us, but for us to push back onto the world. When we see the needs of those around us, we who are able should provide relief instead of holding onto these things for ourselves.
- This WILL grow us and in doing so, we find more of Jesus. As we find more of Jesus, we find joy. in essence, we are going to seek our own joy!

EVERY NIGHT IS DIFFERENT
City Experience (MONDAY)
Every city has a story and the goal of the City Experience is to tell that story. The goal of this experience is to help students better understand the people and history of the city they’re serving. Groups will be guided through the city to learn more about the need for the gospel, the vision for ministry the rest of the week, and how their work is making an impact in the community. Students will be challenged at the end of the week to consider what their city’s story is and how they care share the gospel with others through it.
Gospel Engagement (TUESDAY)
One evening will be dedicated to helping students engage with the gospel themselves. Biblical illiteracy is a problem in the church today, especially among students. Having a clear understanding of the gospel is vital for students to grow in their relationship with God and live a life on mission when they return home. In addition to this interactive experience led by your director, World Changers will provide follow-up discussion material for Group Leaders to use during their church group devotion time to further explore this vital area of discipleship for your students.
R & R Night (WEDNESDAY)
One of the best things that happens on any mission trip is the relationships that are built within your group. For this reason, we are excited to set aside time for church groups and crews to have some fun and spend quality time together in the middle of the week with the goal of facilitating deeper relationships among you and your students. This will be a programmed evening of activities allowing groups to recharge together and finish the week of serving together strong. Whether that is a friendly competition in sports or a neighborhood wide block party, it varies, but will be FUN!
Concert of Prayer (THURSDAY)
This year the Concert of Prayer is split into three sections based on the theme: Here & Now. It will resemble what many of you have grown to love and find tremendous value in for your groups. Different from recent years we are really focusing on the personal lives of students (struggles, victories, etc.) and the Lord's sovereignty in all.
Project Celebration (FRIDAY)
This will be time together to celebrate the ministry that has taken place during the previous few days. It will be fun and high energy and a very celebratory atmosphere.
