Summer/Fall 2025 Updates/Reminders ***WATCH ME!!!***
Updates/Changes about Dual Enrollment:
- Placement Scores: All dual enrollment students must meet all eligibility requirements (cumulative unweighted GPA and passing all placement test scores) in order to participate in dual enrollment. (p. 3 of the 2024-2025 Dual Enrollment Articulation Agreement ).
- NWFSC Dual Enrollment Registration "Dynamic" Form: Dual Enrollment students will use a NEW COURSE REQUEST FORM to complete when registering forSpring '25 classes. Some of the same features are available: parent/guardian electronic sign off, counselor sign off, etc. Some of the new features of the form: (1) Ms. McKie will approve classes (not specific class sections) that you are planning on taking. Once your course request form is approved (NWFSC has said this will be a faster turn around time); you will go into your NWFSC raidernet account and self register yourself into approved courses. You will immediately have a seat in the course upon self registration. You are then able to change your class sections as needed throughout the registration window (without add/drop forms) until the add/drop deadline. If returning dual enrollment parent/guardians are unable to remember or log into Dynamic Forms (parent approval account for dual enrollment forms) it’s highly recommended that you attend the dual enrollment with Ms. McKie to get assistance as she is not able to override your approval in the enrollment process due to technical issues. Not being able to log into dynamic forms to approval your child’s dual enrollment form will significantly delay and will affect their enrollment into fast filling NWFSC classes. NWFSC will not make accommodations or overload classes due to enrollment issues.
- Florida Civics Literacy Exam(FLCE) -- DE students who are planning on graduating from NWFSC with an AA degree, must pass the FCLE Exam. Passing the FCLE exam is not a high school graduation requirement, but is a requirement for an AA degree. Please contact NWFSC test center (https://www.nwfsc.edu/testing-center/ ) to make arrangements to take the FCLE exam.
- Maximum number of Credits per semester --
- DE students may enroll in a maximum of 16 credit hours in any fall, spring or summer semester.
- Students who have earned at least 15 credits and have a 3.5 College (NWFSC) unweighted cumulative GPA may take up to 18 credits per semester.
- Students who have earned at least 15 credits and have a 4.0 College (NWFSC) unweighted cumulative GPA may take up to 21 credits per semeste
- 60 credit limit for Dual Enrollment students// Impact of Excessive Credits
- By earning more than the 60 credit hours at NWFSC, you risk having a lower financial aid package when going to college after high school.
- Course Time: All eligible DE students can participate in college credit courses during school hours, after school hours and during the summer term.
- Allowed College Credit Courses -- Dual Enrollment students are able to take college credit courses of 3 or more credits towards an Associate Degree. Developmental or PE courses (physical education courses that focus on the physical execution of a skill rather than the intellectual attributes of the activity) are NOT allowed to be taken as a dual enrollment student.
- Add/Drop & Withdrawal deadlines-- will now follow the NWFSC college student deadlines as indicated on the NWFSC webpage.
- WHS Pilot Program College Success courses will be taught on WHS campus by Mr. and Mrs. Warren.
This pilot program is where WHS teachers teach face-to-face NWFSC College Success course at Walton High School in the fall semester. Students must have a cumulative unweighted 3.0 GPA and have met all developmental PERT scores (PERT Reading =84; PERT Writing=90; PERT Math= 96). Students must earn a “C” or higher in College Success in order to continue with the pilot program in the Spring Semester with WHS teachers teaching face-to-face NWFSC Critical Thinking course at Walton High School .
McKie's Reminders:
- After the completion of your second semester of dual enrollment, it is highly advised that you see a NWFSC Academic Navigator for advisement on your path to an AA/AS degree PRIOR to meeting with Ms. McKie for course approval EACH semester. Please do not solely rely on DegreeWorks as your only advisement on your path to earning an AA/AS degree at NWFSC.
- Quarterly Class Meetings with Administration are a requirement. This is our primary source of communication.
- 3 Strike Rule is in effect --Upon the third withdrawal(W), "F" grade earned at NWFSC you will not be eligible to participate in dual enrollment.
- If you need assistance, please contact me. Do not wait until it's too late to do something.
