If you are interested in switching your child's learning placement for the third trimester from remote to hybrid or hybrid to remote, please contact Sarah Smith or Sarah Monroe by February 16th.

All Illinois children in Kindergarten and 2nd grade or any new student to the district (in 1st, 3rd or 4th grade) are required by the state to provide school with proof of a dental exam by May 15, 2021. Any dental exam completed between November 2019 and May 15, 2021 will fulfill the state's requirement. If a dental exam form is not received by May 15, 2021, the school may hold the child's report card until proof of a dental examination form is received or until the school receives proof (ex: appointment card) that a dental examination will take place within 60 days after May 15, 2021. Please call our school nurse with questions.

Next week we will continue NWEA MAP testing all Kindergarten-4th grade students. This assessment will allow teachers to plan instruction to better meet each child's academic needs.

Remote Learners will be taking the assessment while at home. Please make sure to have an adult present to help with any technical difficulties while testing. Please do not help your child to complete the assessment. We want to know what your child knows, not what you know! We realize this is difficult at times, but continue to encourage your child to try their best when a question is difficult for them. The questions on the assessment get more difficult as a child answers them correctly, so if they receive assistance on a question that they can not answer independently, the assessment will continue to get more difficult as they progress, thus adding more frustration for your child.

Out of an abundance of caution, we will not be allowing Valentine's to be exchanged in our classrooms this year. We know that this is an activity that students look forward to, but with our current procedures, we are unable to partake in this activity this year.

We are so excited to offer two clubs to Stella May Swartz students, Creative Arts Club and Photography Club. If your child is interested, please have them complete the form linked in the flyer below. Club sponsors will reach out to those interested with details regarding the start date/time.

Please do not send your child to school if they are feeling any of the COVID19 symptoms. COVID symptoms include fever (100.4 or higher), new onset of moderate to severe headache, shortness of breath, new cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain from unknown cause, new congestion/runny nose, new loss of sense of taste or smell, nausea, fatigue from unknown cause, muscle or body aches. We are using extreme caution to make sure that all of our students and staff are safe while at school. Your support is critical! We ask that any student that is experiencing a symptom of COVID19 to stay home and report the absence to the office. Our nursing staff will call you about next steps.

In addition, if one of your children is experiencing a COVID19 symptom, all of your children need to stay home.

If someone in the household has tested positive for COVID-19 or is identified as a close contact to someone that has tested positive please call the office. The nurse will follow-up to gather the information required by the health department, discuss next steps, and answer any questions you may have.

Would you like to recognize a staff member in Salt Creek School District 48 that deserves some extraordinary recognition for something they have done in our school district to make a difference for others? Please fill out this form to have this staff member recognized for their amazing accomplishment.

If your child is in-person for learning, they have an opportunity to grab a "Grab and Go" meal as they exit the building. The bag includes a breakfast and lunch. Please make sure to talk to your child about if you would like them to grab a meal bag as they are dismissed from the building. The meals are free for every student.

Any District 48 family can pick up 5 days worth of meals (breakfast and lunch) at Albright Middle School at Door 2 on Tuesdays from 1:00-1:30 and 2:30-3:00. You can also pick up meals on Wednesdays from 11:00-4:00 at any District 45 school. If these times do not work for you, please contact the office, and we can arrange a different time for you to pick up the meals. Menus for December are linked below.
