Metro C Line Extension to Torrance
Metro has plans to connect more of the South Bay by extending the C Line (Green) from Redondo Beach Station to the new Torrance Transit Center. This project would bring light rail to the South Bay to provide alternatives to traffic along the I-405 Freeway corridor, with connections to the A (Blue) and future K (Crenshaw/LAX) Lines.
LA Metro is working to connect more of its pedestrian trains to key South Bay areas — and will soon let the community know more about the projects.
Metro will host a series of public meetings this week and next to discuss the agency’s plan to stretch the C Line, formerly known as the Green Line, to the nearly finished Torrance Transit Center. The extension, for which planning began in 2010, would connect the Redondo Beach station at Marine Avenue to the Torrance center, 465 Crenshaw Blvd.
The agency will host a virtual meeting via Zoom from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, August 15, followed by two more in-person sessions. (For information on the Zoom meeting, go to metro.net.)
Next week’s in-person meetings are set for:
- 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 16, at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center’s Toyota Meeting Hall, 3330 Civic Center Drive, in Torrance.
- 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, at Leuzinger High School, 4118 W. Rosecrans Ave., in Lawndale.
Construction on the project is slated to begin in 2026 and the rails will open for service between 2030 and 2033.
