From the Principal's Desk
October 4, 2021
Greetings FWAFA Family,
We have many academic and enrichment events coming your way in October. It's a busy month that includes the Practice SAT for grades 9-12. We will be celebrating Straight A students and students who earned Masters achievement on their 2021 STAAR/EOC assessments. In addition, we have a middle school theatre showcase that will be emailed to parents in the coming weeks, a Monster Art show unveiled to 3rd grade families, and the high school advanced acting play As You Like It to round out the month. See the calendar at the end of the newsletter for more dates and details.
Creatively yours,
Dr. Jackson
TCAA Annual Campaign Underway Now!
Each academic year, the generosity of our faculty, staff, parents, grandparents, alumni, and friends helps us add robust and diverse opportunities for over 1,200 students that simply wouldn’t be possible if we relied solely on state funding.
Your gifts help TCA+A cover costs accrued throughout the year and provide the means for us to underwrite, plan, and explore new opportunities for our schools, conservatories, and choirs that would not be possible without community support. Your gifts are used to:
- Provide supplies for our classrooms
- Update and expand our instruction materials
- Pay for technology upgrades
- Reduce the financial burden on our families for activities
- Fund travel for performances for our students
- Underwrite Performances
- Pay for costuming and make up supplies
- Cover District-Level Support
- And much more!

Props Needed for As You Like It
Advanced Acting students at FWAFA have been hard at work for their upcoming production of Shakespeare's As You Like It. We're in search of a few props and would love your help to put this part of our show together.
Any props donated will be returned that first week of November after the show closes. Our actors and crew members will show care and respect toward your belongings so that they're returned in the same condition as when they were given.
The following is what we're in need of:
- various gardening pots (terracotta or otherwise)
- 2 gardening shovels
- miscellaneous gardening tools
- 1 weber kettle grill (please see attached image)
- 1 plastic pool (please see attached image)
- 2 arm floaties
- 1 watering can
Please email the production's Stage Manager, Lana Yagle, at lana.yagle@gmail.com if you're able to provide any of the above (be sure to include pictures!).
Thank you for your support, and can't wait to see you at the show!
Ladies and Gentlemen:
Everybody get excited for FWAFA’s upcoming production of Shakespeare’s As You Like It! I know what you're thinking. I just don’t get Shakespeare.
Fear not, our Advanced Acting class is working hard to produce Shakespeare as you’ve never seen it. It’s As You Like It as YOU like it! A fun, timeless, ‘Shakespeare in the Park’ show for just $5.00 a person.
Playing October 28-31 in the FWAFA Green Space.
All tickets are just $5! Get yours here: https://bit.ly/FWAFAasyoulikeit
Each week, the Advanced Acting class will be introducing you to the key characters in the play. This week, it is Orlando and Oliver.
You’ll be in stitches for this Renaissance comedy.
Touchstone: Maya Michalski
Touchstone is the royal court jester. Always good for a laugh and full of wistful wisdom, it’s hard not to love him. Touchstone is always around his friends Celia and Rosalind in the court of Duke Frederick (not without making fun of him, however). When disaster strikes, Touchstone is able to find the silver lining, and perhaps find a love for his own.
Jaques: Caleb Jackson
Every friend group has a pessimist. Sir Jaques is second to Duke and never seems to have a smile. He can be found in the Forest of Arden spewing metaphors and wisdom to the flora and fauna. If only there were a fool in his life to shatter his cold, saddened heart.
