Dressing for the Weather and Call Back Procedures
Autumn has been unusually warm with sun filled days. That said, we are heading into colder, wetter autumn days and it is important that students dress for the weather. All students should be prepared to go outside during recess and lunch on most days, with the exception of severe weather days. For younger children, a spare pair of socks and clothing is strongly encouraged as they often are attracted to the inviting puddles in the playground!
On another note, please ensure that your child arrives at school on time. The first bell goes at 8:50 am and the second bell at 8:55 am when formal instruction begins. Please do not send your child early to school as there is no supervision available both in and outside the school.
If you know that your child will be absent, please be sure to log your child's absence on Safe Arrival. If it is for a partial day (e.g. an appointment), please also email the classroom teacher so they are also aware.
Braemar Traffic
We continue to emphasize the importance of road safety at the school to ensure that our students and families are safe. If you drive your children to school, please park on Evergreen Place and walk to the school. At Braemar, vehicles are not permitted to enter the cul de sac between 8:30am-9:30 am and 2:30-3:30 pm. (Please see photo below). Daycare providers with visible signage may drop off in the cul de sac.
The staff parking lot is available only to staff between 8:00am and 4:00pm. There are no drop offs and pick-ups of students in the staff parking lot. As a result of this arrangement, traffic is kept at a minimum when children are in attendance.
Please be respectful of the neighbours and their property (e.g. by limiting the amount of noise in the area, not blocking their driveways, and not double parking on the street.
Please be mindful of the North Vancouver District street signage; specifically areas that have limited or restricted parking. See photos below.
Other things to note:
Please do not stop at the three way intersection of Mahon and Evergreen Place to drop your child off.
Please do not have your child exit from the driver's side into oncoming traffic
Please do not park alongside curbs where parking is not permitted.
Please do not reverse your vehicle, stop or block drive ways. We continue to receive complaints from neighbours specifically living on streets surrounding the school.
Please be a responsible driver, and kindly assist in keeping all children at Braemar safe! Thank you for your cooperation.

A note from the library…
We would like to send a huge thank you to the Braemar community for supporting the Scholastic Book Fair. We especially appreciated all the parent volunteers who generously donated their time to help make the Fair run smoothly. We look forward to purchasing new books from our proceeds to add to our library collection.
