This Week's Note From Mr. Evan Chelman, Principal
Dear Hill-Roberts Families,
As you've read below, we're focused on Gratitude at HRES these days. Regardless of the particulars of the lives we each lead, we have so much to be grateful for. Gratitude is a tricky concept. It means that one must stop to smell the roses; to be aware, not of what one does not have, but of what one does have. I'll take this time to stop and reflect on what I am grateful for. We have a community that supports one another. Staff who support parents and students and each other; parents who support each other, staff and students; and students who do their best to support one another! I am grateful for the community we have.
I hope you take time in the next few days to focus on what you're grateful for. If you happen to be sitting around a table with family and friends, maybe let your student kick off the meal with some gratitude!
Sincerely,
Evan Chelman, Principal
As always, we will come back from our holiday break with a pajama day!
Please send canned goods to HRES! (see flyer below)
Gratitude Challenge
For the next few months Hill Roberts will be focusing on Gratitude and social awareness as a community. Giving thanks and appreciating what we have helps to foster more social and self awareness. There will be several school based activities and projects for grade levels to participate in, but we wanted to extend the invite to families.
Gratitude is the simplest way to change one’s perspective of the world. Learning to be grateful helps us appreciate the little things in life that we tend to take for granted. This practice can help to bring about a feeling of satisfaction and hope.
Being grateful does not mean that we need to deny the fact that negative things happen in life; but taking time to focus on the good things can help us to find some peace and appreciation amongst the bitterness and hardship we may be enduring.
There are a lot of ways to teach and show gratitude. Attached is a family activity you can participate in. If you would like to share how you are practicing gratitude in your home, please send photos, or thoughts to Jleach@attleboroschools.com
Some Wednesday Photos!
Our kindergarteners got a chance to really explore some of the tools our Community Helpers use to serve our community. Those sirens are LOUD!
Finally, our generous PTO showed their gratitude for our staff by serving us pie! Who doesn't love pie? Who doesn't love the HRES PTO!?
