News and Notes from the VPSS Central Office
From the desk of the Superintendent
This past week, I got the opportunity to do quite a few things and recognize some of the outstanding work being done in our parish.
On Wednesday at our monthly principal meeting, I was able to share with our admins their school performance banners, on Thursday I got to be part of the Assistant Principal of the Year presentation at Gueydan High and on Friday I was able to surprise the winners of the Teacher and Principals of the Year for the parish for the 2024 year. While we have so many special things going on in the district, it is really fun when we get to hone in and celebrate a few of the accomplishments on a personal level. Congrats to all.
Last night I was able to be part of another successful run of the Mendoza Vermilion Parish Car Raffle for the 23-24 school year. While we were a little nervous about the date change, we were super excited with the end result which included our highest sales ever and a spectacular event that we were able to squeeze in just before the weather. A few sights and notes from the event are in the article below.
Thanks again for all that you do and thank you to all that supported our car raffle.

School Performance Recap
Recently, the Louisiana Department of Education Released the 2022-2023 School Performance Scores. The release of school performance scores to parents provides transparency and insight into the effectiveness of the learning environment of Louisiana public schools.. This information empowers parents with a comprehensive view of their child's school, offering a valuable tool for making informed decisions about their education. By sharing performance scores, schools foster a culture of accountability and collaboration, encouraging parents to actively engage in their child's academic journey. This transparency not only strengthens the bond between educators and parents but also promotes a collective commitment to continuous improvement. The release of school performance scores serves as a catalyst for dialogue, collaboration, and shared responsibility, ultimately contributing to the enhancement of educational outcomes and the overall success of students.
