Cornerstone = closed for summer (briefly)
Happy Wednesday, new CSA families! I hope your summer is going well, and hopefully you're staying cool in this crazy heat. I do want to let you know that, starting tomorrow at 4:00, even the CSA front office will be closed for a break. Ms. Julie, Ms. Caroline, and I have been hard at work all June, and it's finally our turn to take advantage of summer.
The CSA office will be closed until Wednesday, July 10. We will not be available to answer calls, and because I'll be in Alaska, access to internet/email may be limited. After July 10, we will be back on summer hours, from 7:30 to 4:30, Monday through Thursday. If you don't want to forget your question, feel free to email me, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
Because we have added a few new families since my last newsletter, I'm going to re-run some info from previous emails below. If you're all caught up, there is a couple of new things (Skyward, dress code), but otherwise, these are just reminders.
Brunch & Browse
If you or your child still have questions about CSA that you'd like to talk about, add July 17 at 10:30 a.m. to your calendar. We will have light brunch refreshments and whatever info you want to know about CSA. Afterwards, we'll also give tours to help you and your child get the lay of the land.
It would be very helpful to know how many people to expect, so please complete this RSVP survey.
We have heard from 65 new families, but we accepted 181 new students this year. We're going to purchase food and plan for tours for the number of people who RSVP, plus a little extra...but not a lot extra, so please help us plan correctly
.
If you already completed it last time I sent this info out, thank you, and there's no need to do it again.
Skyward rollover
If you're new to Spring Branch, the system we use for grades, records, announcements, and just about everything is Skyward. Right now, your kiddos are probably still listed in Skyward under their campus from last year. If you see that when you log into Skyward Family Access and have a little anxiety because you thought you did everything for your kid to come to Cornerstone...and it doesn't say Cornerstone...don't panic. Since you're reading this newsletter, that means your kid is definitely headed this way, unless you tell us otherwise. However, the rollover in Skyward doesn't happen until mid- to late-July, and that's when you'll see the campus change as well as the grade level. If we hit August 1, and it still says something other than Cornerstone, we still won't panic, but we're happy to help figure it out.
I would like to say thank you to everyone who turned in report cards and proof of residency. This is the first time in a few years that we haven't lost kids who had incomplete information.
Transportation to and from school
We're doing a little better on responses. We've heard from about half of you now. I'm going to keep asking in hopes that our percentage will continue to rise.
I realize now there may have been some confusion about who needs to complete the survey. The link below is for EVERYONE...even if your child will be walking or be dropped off. We want to hear from you. Organization now will help at the beginning of the year, so please help us help you.
Please use this LINK to let us know how your child will be getting to and from school. It would be very helpful if this survey could be completed as soon as possible.
Electives for new 7th & 8th grade families
- Please complete one of the selection sheets below for your child's next grade level. We will do our best to place your child in their preferred classes, but they are subject to class size. After you complete this form, you can scan it and email back to me.
Dress code at CSA
If you are getting started on back-to-school shopping and wondering about dress code at CSA, I've got you covered. Y'all are actually getting info before everyone else because I have made edits to the dress code from last year.
As you may have heard, CSA students are not required to wear uniforms, and our dress code is a bit more lenient than other middle school campuses. Both of these things are true, but we do still have a dress code to be followed. I have included a picture of the dress code portion of the 2024-2025 student/family handbook that you'll see in August. Please let me know if you have any specific questions related to your child.
School Supplies
The deadline to order the school supply kits has passed. I do not believe there will be any additional kits ordered, so I'm including the school supply lists below. Hopefully, shopping in June or July is a lot better than August.
