WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW IF YOU PLAN TO DRIVE STUDENTS - To and From School Events

If you were APPROVED as a driver last year:

Please contact Sherry Jenkins ASAP by FRIDAY, OCTOBER 6 to verify we have valid insurance information sjenkins@brsd.ab.ca
Your current approval will expire in DECEMBER! Watch for info in NOVEMBER for renewal forms.

NEW DRIVERS - You MUST become approved BEFORE you transport any students other than your own children.

To become a new driver, the following forms must be submitted to the office:

Fill out and submit form 559-1 Transportation in Private Vehicle Form. Click HERE to access it.
Fill out and submit a Drivers Abstract Consent Form. NOTE: Do NOT submit your own abstract. BRSD must obtain their own for liability purposes. Click HERE to access the form.
Submit proof of $2,000,000 liability from your insurance company - bring in a letter or a copy of your valid policy
Provide a copy of your valid Drivers License

ONCE YOU ARE APPROVED YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED BY THE OFFICE.

WHEN YOUR CHILD IS DECLINING PROVIDED TRANSPORTATION BY THE SCHOOL

When your child is driving with another parent or anyone else to or from a school event where transportation has been provided (eg: School bus), or arranged (eg: parent drivers for tournaments, games, etc) YOU MUST fill out Form 557-3 Transportation Declined Form. You can find this form:

From the teacher or coach arranging the event
From the school office

Call the school at 780-372-3800 and leave a message
ALSO please email your child's teacher(s), so they are aware and can plan for any homework/assignments, etc
