DOT Day
Please mark your calendars because Friday, September 15th is Dot Day at Scott Elementary!
What is Dot Day?
International Dot Day is celebrated by adults and children for boosting courage so that their creative potential is released. It is a great day to connect and collaborate, and also to celebrate self-expression.
Students and staff are encouraged to come to school wearing polka-dot attire.
Students will participate in "Dot Day" activities during the day!
Volunteers Wanted
- Morning Car Duty Drop-off
- Lunch Help
- Instructional prep/Grade level volunteers
Please add your name to the sheet where you can volunteer! Your child will love seeing you on campus! If you have any questions please reach out to Dr. Bailey at baileym@rcisd.org!
Attendance Procedures
5 days unexcused absence - parents will have to sign an attendance contract
7 days unexcused absence - parents will have to attend an attendance committee meeting
10 days unexcused absence - truancy will be filed with the county
Please send in those notes so that we can get those unexcused absences changed to excused! At this age attendance is not a student responsibility but a parent responsibility so please ensure your children are at school when they are healthy!
Classrooms are earning letters to spell out "Bulldogs" each day they have perfect attendance as a class. Once they spell it out the class gets a prize!
SHOUT OUT TO Mrs. Browder's Class and Mrs. Flud's Class for earning their first attendance prize!

Athletic Events
With the first home varsity football game of the season this Friday, we are asking for your assistance in helping us remind students and parents of the Athletic Event Policy in relation to student IDs and parent/guardian attendance.
The message below went out via text and email to all PreK-12th Guardians as well as all secondary student emails.
Reminder ALL HS & MS students must wear a valid ID for entry to ALL Athletic Events. Students not wearing IDs will not be granted admission to Athletic Events.
MS Students MUST also be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Clear bag policy remains in effect - NO student backpacks allowed.
Policy link - RCISD Athletics Facilities Rules & Regulations
With the growth of our district staff, we would also like to remind/inform each of you that staff members are able to enter Athletic Events free of charge with their staff ID. However, any guests or family members with you will be required to pay for entry. Tickets may be purchased in advance at HomeTown Ticketing.
WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
The Texas Legislature passed Senate Bill 2428 recently related to discipline for students in possession of, using or distributing vapes or e-cigarette on or within 300 feet of a school campus. Students in this situation will be removed from class and placed in disciplinary alternative education programs (DAEP). This does not apply to approved respiratory inhalers or other medical related devices.
For more information about the dangers of vaping and nicotine use please visit the provided link: Quick Facts on the risk of e-cigarettes. We appreciate your support of these safety and wellbeing efforts!
Transportation
The Royse City ISD Transportation and Technology Departments are partnering on a new and safer system to track bus ridership. Bus riders will be issued official Bus Rider Cards to be scanned when they load and unload school buses. Similar to a badge reader, the Bus Rider Cards will allow the district greater details of ridership than ever before.
INFO FOR PRE-K TO 5TH GRADE:
Students who are signed up for bus transportation will be provided with a unique Bus Rider Card. Schools will be provided with the Bus Rider Cards and materials needed to attach them to the child’s backpack. Details coming soon on this procedure.
ACTION REQUIRED FOR FAMILIES
Families of bus riders are asked to complete this brief Bus Rider Registration Form to register your student(s) for transportation services. This form will also prompt our staff to activate a unique Bus Rider Badge for your student(s).
NEXT STEPS
As we grow accustomed to this new system, we know that cards may be lost or misplaced occasionally. We will not deny bus services to students without cards. Procedures for replacement cards and other FAQs will be published soon on the district’s transportation website.
Thank you for taking a moment to learn about this new system! For transportation specific questions, please email brigitte.hargrove@rcisd.org or call 972-636-9732.
Cell Phone / Electronic Devices Policy
If a student is caught with a cell phone it will be taken up and turned into the office. The phone will not be released to the student. A parent/guardian will have to come to campus to pick up the cell phone.
The school is not responsible for any stolen or broken electronic devices.
