Date Changes: We had a conflict with the original date of Baccalaureate so that date has changed as well as we moved senior rehearsal to the morning of commencement.

Tuesday, May 24th

Baccalaureate - 7pm

Thursday, May 26th

Senior Rehearsal - 9am

Commencement - 8pm

Class Trip: The date has been changed to 6/6/22 due to multiple event conflicts. Sign-up sheets are available on the stand outside the office. Please complete one and return it to the office by 3/23 if you will be attending. Class dues will need to have been paid at the time of sign-up.

Yearbooks: The yearbook staff is still in need of senior quotes and baby photos. Check your email for a form from Paige Rump. Send in a baby photo and any other old photos of you and your friends to Mrs. Whitford - whitford@hemlockps.com.

It is with honor to announce Cameron Deweese as one of Hemlock High School’s Top Ten students. Cammy is the daughter of Jason and Jenny Deweese. After graduation she will start her third year of the Early Middle College program at Delta. Cammy is a member of the National Honor Society and the senior class trustee. She has been a member of the Hemlock High School band leader group for 3 years and has also been a mentor for Hemlock Middle School Theatre for 4 years.

It is with honor to announce Grace Oldenburg as one of Hemlock High School’s Top Ten students. Grace is the daughter of Kevin and Kalli Oldenburg. She will be attending Michigan State University to major in Human Biology after graduation. Grace is a member of the National Honor Society, she is the Student Council Secretary and the Senior Class President. She is also the captain Hemlock Varsity Poms and has made the Delta College President's List.

It is with honor to announce Alexandria Grzenia as one of Hemlock High School’s Top Ten students. Alex is the daughter of Wesley and Anna Grzenia. She will be attending the University of Michigan to major in Radiation Therapy. Alex is a member of the National Honor Society and has won the HAIL scholarship. She has participated on the track team for 2 years and cross country for 3 years.

It is with honor to announce Logan Wunsch as one of Hemlock High School’s Top Ten students. Logan is the son of Shannon and Kent Hunt. After graduation Logan will be attending the University of Michigan to major in psychology. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the Vice President of the Student Council.

There is ancient Hebrew saying, “Give honor, where honor is due.” Hemlock Public School District is launching a Hall of Fame. The Hall Fame which is now open and accepting applications through the end of April 2022 features three categories of recipients, Distinguished Alumni, Athletic honors, and Significant Contributor. The Hall of Fame is accepting applicants in all three categories but only induct one member per year and will rotate between the three categories.

Board President Matt Wesner said, “We have so many fantastic people that have contributed to our district in so many ways over the years. We wouldn’t be where we are today without everyone of those people. This is a way for us to honor and recognize some of those individuals across a multitude of areas.”

The district has rich history of honoring individual accomplishments and contributions over the years, but this will add another opportunity. It is amazing to see how many alumni of Hemlock High School have gone on to accomplish big things along with those that given of their time, energy, and efforts to make the school a better place for students. 3/2/22 - V Girls BBall District vs. Valley Lutheran - W (60-53) Regan Finkbeiner led Hemlock with 26 points to go along with 6 assists and 5 steals. In addition to leading the team in scoring tonight, Regan scored her 1,000th career point. She now stands at 1,002 points for her career as a junior. Chloe Watson added 16 points to go along with 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Averi Hall and Samantha Venegas each added 7 points.

3/3/22 - JV Boys BBall vs. Nouvel - L (31-44) Keygon Gilbert had 14 points, and Zach Seidel had 6 points. Thank you to each player for a memorable year!

3/4/22 - V Girls BBall District Final vs. St. Charles - L (43-48) Chloe Watson led Hemlock with 22 points to go along with 11 rebounds. Regan Finkbeiner added 11 points.

3/4-3/5 - V Wrestling Individual State Final - We had three Hemlock wrestlers qualify for the state wrestling meet. Josh Collins took 2nd place in the 152 weight class. Sydney Emmendorfer competed in the girls division in the 135 weight class. Landon Zastrow competed in the 125 weight class.

- Not really. I prefer to have an even number but I do not care that much.

2) What are some of your other hobbies?

- I like to go to taco bell with friends and go shopping.

- Madrid

- Atlético de Madrid

- Mr. Zo because he is funny and he is good at making lessons fun.

11) What is your dream job?

- I would like to be an influencer or something related to fashion or medicine

12) Do you think playing sports at Hemlock has made a difference in your life? Why?

- Yes, it’s and easy way of meeting new people and it is very different how important sports are in America compared to in my country. I love feeling part of the basketball and volleyball team and feeling their support and desire to learn. Without a doubt, one of the best things about my exchange year is the sports and everything they are making me learn. It is also very fun to have the entire student section supporting the team.

13) Favorite sport memory?

- Winning district with the volleyball team and the game when I scored my first basket.

Spring Sports are just around the corner! Practices begin March 14th for baseball, softball, golf, girls tennis, girls soccer & track & field. All athletes MUST be registered in FinalForms and have a valid physical on file before the 1st day of practice.
