Greetings Sward Families:
Good morning and welcome to Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123's eLearning Day. You will be getting an opening email from your child's teacher prior to 9:00 a.m. that will let you and your child know what they will be doing today.
Our eLearning day is from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Questions that you have for your teacher will be answered within an hour as he or she may not be on the computer right when you ask a question. Whether or not your children have Art, Music, or Library today, they will have at least 30 minutes of work from those teachers in addition to PE.
There will be 300 minutes of work planned for your child. There is no live instruction expectation on these days. Your child may finish quicker or take a bit longer on their independent work as the listed times are estimates. In general, this will be the schedule:
- 180 minutes of core activities (ELA, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies)- 45 minutes each
- 120 minutes of encore activities (PE, Music, Art, Media Center)- 30 minutes each
Attendance will be taken and all students will currently be marked as present. However, if your child has not turned in work within in 5 days from today, he or she will be marked absent for the day. Remember that eLearning days do not need to be made up at the end of the year which is why there is 5 hours of learning expected. The assignments should be able to be completed on their own and may not be as rigorous as in school, when a teacher is there to assist.
As I opened up this newsletter system, I noticed that our Take Home Tuesday newsletter from two days ago did not ever make it to you. I will re-send it following this email. As for our theme day of Pajama Day today, it will be rescheduled for another day. In the meantime, if you'd like to share pajama day photos of your child eLearning at home today, please share them with me via email at ckramer@d123.org and some of them will even get attached to a future newsletter.
Thank you and have a wonderful day. Stay safe and warm.
