I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter break and long weekend. The Easter Hat Parade held last Thursday afternoon was a great success. There were lots of creative hats and Easter themed headpieces that the kids enjoyed parading. Please see the end of the newsletter for some great photos! Congratulations to families who won prizes in the Easter raffle.
Can I please remind everyone that in the morning before the 9am school bell rings, all students should be on the asphalt on the lower playground. The area around the top building and demountables is out of bounds. We appreciate if parents could ensure their children make their way down to the supervised area so they are ready for their teacher to collect them when the bell rings.
Don't forget to attend this afternoon's Second Hand Uniform Sale - there will be some great bargains!
SRC Fundraiser for Term 1 - CUDDLY TOY AND GOLD COIN DONATION
The SRC will be holding their Term 1 fundraising event on Thursday 7th April.
As most children take comfort in a soft toy, the SRC thought it would be a nice idea to bring your favourite teddy bear/soft toy to school for the day, with the donation of a gold coin. All money raised will be donated to a charity to help children less fortunate than ours.
Second Hand Uniform Sale - TODAY
The P&C will be holding a Second Hand Uniform Sale THIS AFTERNOON. All uniform items will be sold for $2 each. The stall will be held under the Basement COLA between 2:30 - 3:30pm. It is a great opportunity for you to stock up on some uniform items at a great price. If you have old uniforms you would like to donate, please leave them in the office foyer. Please also remember to label all items of clothing.
Hot Cross Buns Band Concert
The annual Hot Cross Buns Band Concert will be held next Tuesday 5th April. Everyone is invited to come and listen to the school band perform at their first concert for 2016. Hot cross buns will also be served for breakfast. Band rehearsal will begin at 8:00am as usual and the concert will begin at 8:30am. Please come and listen to our band perform at the Brighton St entrance.
Dance News
There will be some changes to dance rehearsals next week.
* The Senior Dance Group's rehearsal will be held on Monday at lunchtime instead of Tuesday. Please ensure all Senior Dancers bring their dance rehearsal clothes to school on Monday.
* The Junir Dance Group's rehearsal time next week will be as normal. Mrs Bragg will be measuring the students for their dance costumes.
There will be no dance rehearsals in Week 1 of Term 2 due to the School Development Day. However, an extra lesson will be scheduled in Week 2 (Juniors - Tuesday and Wednesday morning; Seniors - Monday and Tuesday lunchtime).
ANZAC Day Assembly
An assembly will be held to commemorate ANZAC Day. This assembly will be held on Wednesday 27th April at 12pm. All community members are welcome to attend.
Health In Kind Dental Check Ups
See the flyer below for more information regarding a free event for children to get a dental check up in a friendly and relaxing environment with lunch and activities provided. The event is organised by Health In Kind, Weave Youth and Community Services and Randwick City Council.
Please see the office if you would like a consent form (needed to attend the event).
Preschool Applications for 2017
Applications for students wishing to enrol at Banksmeadow Preschool in 2017 will be accepted from Monday 2nd May (Monday of Week2, Term 2). Students must turn 4 by 31st July 2017 to be eligible to attend the preschool. We will be offering flexible days for enrolments, with a possibility of full time (5-day) placements depending on enrolment numbers. Please see the school office or contact Mrs Bragg or Miss Hoskins next term if you require further information.
Rabbitohs Holiday Clinics
Rabbitohs Development Officers will be running
clinics over the school holidays. Kids will learn a range of skills, participate in drills and learn the importance of healthy eating and keeping active. They can choose from either a day of dancing or of footy (separate clinics will be run for each). For more information visit www.rabbitohs.com.au/holidayclinics
Working Bee – Save the Date - REPEAT
A school Working Bee has been scheduled for Sunday 1st May from about 12pm. The aim of this Working Bee is to tidy up and weed some of the gardens within our school. By doing a thorough job on this day, it will make the areas more manageable for the future. We would love as many volunteers as possible…all gardening skill levels welcome! Please put the date in your diary and come along on the day to join our community. We are also looking for donations of a variety of plants. If you are able to assist in this area, please see Ms Hoskins or Mrs Twitchings. More information and confirmation of times will be published closer to the date.
