MAKING A DIFFERENCE
MAKING A DIFFERENCE is a mindset, it is OUR mindset. The faculty, staff, food service, bus drivers, custodians ... yes, everyone in this district will make a difference in the lives of our students (and each other).
Thank you to our GHS Band and GHS Cheerleaders for your exciting beginning to the 22-23 Convocation! https://youtu.be/QMJQ_afNg0s
Convocation 2022 reminded us that we chose this profession for a reason. Thank you to our GHS and GMS 21-22 Teachers of the Year (Chonté Reeves and Coach Justin McDaniel) for reminding us that teaching is a calling, and we cannot do it alone. Your amazing stories inspired us to be present and to make connections.
Thank you to our Guest Speaker, Roy Layman, for challenging us to drift in the right direction, because wherever our mindset is, that is the direction we will drift. Your story reminded us that we never know when a student is looking to us for leadership, or looking at us as their inspiration. We definitely are in the position to touch the life of a child. We will take your message to the heart and be the teacher, the coach, the administrator, the food service worker, the custodian, the bus driver who will MAKE A DIFFERENCE each and every day.
GIFT
The Gunter Educational Foundation spoils our students and teachers year round. Today, the teachers were on the receiving end of their generosity.
As part of the back to school festivities, GIFT members provided a Babe's lunch to our district and some awesome prizes were given away to members of the faculty during the annual drawing. This organization provides scholarships to students and grants to teachers. They also are helping to keep the Kerfoot Scholarship fund alive in GISD.
If you are looking for a worthy foundation to donate to, please check out GIFT at guntergift.com.

Gunter ISD Police Department Partners with iWatchTexas
Protecting Texas students, faculty, and schools requires everyone’s support. iWatchTexas encourages students, administrators, parents, and concerned individuals to report anything that may trouble you: no concern is too small. By alerting the proper authorities to incidents that concern you, we can take steps toward preventing rather than reacting to school violence.
Depending on the nature of the report, referrals will be made to appropriate authorities which could include school officials, district officials and local law enforcement.
Using a single, statewide reporting system ensures that tips from different parts of the community are all integrated in order to link critical data. The iWatchTexas initiative is part of the DPS Intelligence and Counterterrorism Division (ICT), which serves as the central clearinghouse for the collection, management, analysis and dissemination of law enforcement and homeland security intelligence in Texas.

Officers Take Oath
The officers who make up the Gunter ISD Police Department took an oath to protect and serve the students and faculty of Gunter ISD during the August School Board Meeting. We are lucky to have these officers at our campuses. Thank you, Chief Shannon Thomas, Officer Jason Satre, and Officer Steven Nabors for your commitment to keeping us safe.
School Board Briefs
Safety First!
Kids are back in school, please drive safe! As you are out and about driving the roads of Gunter and Gunter ISD, please be mindful of our students entering or exiting a school bus, walking to or from school, crossing the roads, or walking through the parking lot.
The best way you can keep our kids safe is to pay attention to your surroundings while driving.
- Red Flashing Lights and the Stop Sign are NOT suggestions. STOP!
- Slow the roll in the school parking lots. Pay attention in the car line and be patient.
- Use caution in the school parking lots. Students may come from between parked cars.
- PUT YOUR PHONE AWAY
The elementary school has made adjustments to the car line map. Please click the link for more information, and a printable PDF of the route.
