From the Desk of Mrs. Pendleton...
Week two has come and gone. I hope your student is beginning to adjust to the school year schedule. I know going to bed at a decent hour and waking up on time is a struggle even for us adults! As September begins, so do a lot of extra-curricular evening activities. We are so excited to start seeing our students shine beyond the classroom.
We will have a Spirit Week to show our Pirate Pride in support of all our teams and organizations. See Spirit Days (above) and Upcoming Events (below).
Thank you for your patience as we continue adjusting to our new information system. It will be a valuable tool once we fully complete the transition. I am so thankful for Pam, Nurse Shauna, Mrs. Lewis, our teachers, our district office staff, and our IT department (Erick and Frank) for spending extra hours making the transition and working out the bugs.
Bear with us, we should have things up and running soon. Notifications of missing/late work are not always correct at this time-our apologies.
So grateful for our middle schoolers and their families!
Mrs. Pendleton

Hacking Parenthood... (September 2023)
Cultivate an Independent Child
Have a family meeting and have each member choose a chore that is his/her responsibility to remember to complete each day. Let your child (ren) choose from a list you all make together.
Practice this task together so they know your expectations. (My kids never cleaned the bathroom like I wanted them to because I failed to show them! True Story-JP)
Do not nag them, do not remind them, just keep a running tally in your head. (Don't give them a chore involving a living thing-we don't want our pets to starve! :) )
By the end of the week meet and see how everyone did. Celebrate successes with praise, discuss issues, and set goals for next week. Have them play catch up on the task if they fell too far behind-hold them accountable and hopefully this will serve as a good reminder. Recognize his/her contribution to the family no matter when the tasks were complete.
Good Luck! They are learning independence at school as well. Together, we can make a difference!
