Student Interviews 🎤
Irene Na, Head Librarian Officer, shares her insight on the Fall Donation Drive!
Who receives the items donated by orchestra members?
The items orchestra members donated will be received by domestic violence survivors at Hope's Door New Beginning Center. Specifically, the hygiene items will go to the organization's shelter residents. Gently used clothing items will go to their Resale Store, where survivors receive items for free.
What was the process of planning the donation drive?
The librarian team initially decided on donating just hygiene items, but after I looked into potential local shelters, we extended the drive to include clothing items, cleaning products, and linens. Once we decided the duration date and the local shelter to donate to, I contacted the shelter. The librarians then set up boxes in the orchestra room and planned on ways to promote the donation drive.
What is the impact of the donation drive?
Thanks to our orchestra families, the donated items will be used by survivors of domestic violence and their children. The donations will help towards Hope's Door New Beginning Center's mission of intervention solution of domestic violence, and help give hope and safety to the survivors.
