Walkersville High School
Message from the Principal
Dear Walkersville Community,
Next week is a four day week, with Friday being off for students. It is also getting really close to the end of term 1, so please make sure you are checking Schoology and reaching out to teachers if you have any questions. Next week our Culture & Climate Committee has planned spirit days to promote kindness and take a stand against bullying. We want to make sure each and every student, staff member, and community feels safe and accepted at WHS. Our community is better when we accept each other and work together to support our students. Saturday looks like a rainy one, but I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. Stephanie Ware
Principal

Federal Impact Aid
Dear Parents & Guardians:
Tomorrow your child will receive a paper copy of the 2023 Federal Impact Aid survey for you to complete and return to the school by Friday, November 3, 2023. As was stated in the FindOutFirst email sent by FCPS recently, the purpose of the survey is to collect information from families regarding military service and/or residence or employment on federal property. The Federal Impact Aid survey is administered every year but this year the survey is in paper form.
Why is it important to complete the Federal Impact Aid Survey?
Federal Impact Aid is a Federal education fund that reimburses school districts for lost revenue and additional costs associated with the presence of tax-exempt Federal property including military installations, Federal low-rent housing facilities, national laboratories, and other Federal buildings and lands, etc. Frederick County Public Schools may receive financial assistance from the Federal Government (under Public Law 81-874) based on the number of pupils whose parents/guardians are active in the military or whose parents live or work on federal property in Maryland.
If a parent/guardian is active in the military or lives/works on federal property and has multiple students in Frederick County Public Schools, a survey must be completed for each student.

Supervision of Younger Children at WHS Events
This is a reminder that while we love to see our whole community supporting our Lions, children are not permitted to be unsupervised during events. We want our events to be safe, orderly, and allow everyone to focus on cheering our students on. Please ensure that younger children are with adults at all times when visiting WHS. Thank you.
