A MESSAGE FROM MRS. CAUDILL
Lead With Your Heart! ❤️ As we start to look to February, we are reminded of the power and impact of kindness and understanding. In fact February’s Habit of the month is Seek First To Understand and Then to be Understood.
Throughout the month of February, Amerman will be celebrating kindness and understanding in many different ways. We are inviting all families to join in celebrating these habits and traits. You are invited to create and share hearts with us in a digital way. You can make your heart as simple or as fancy as you’d like. Please think of a few ways that your child has followed the 7 Habits and write them on the heart. Then, take a picture of the Valentine you created.
All Bobcat Families are invited to share how their child is leading from the heart! Some of our teachers may be asking you to send in hearts which you can do in addition to sharing them digitally. To share your heart digitally, all you need to do is take a photo of your child’s heart(s) and email them to Amermanannouncements@northvilleschools.org. We plan to share images of these hearts on daily announcements at the end of the month. We ask that all posts and photos be submitted by Monday, February 19th!
Stay well,
Devon Caudill
PS - I hope to see you tomorrow at Parent Camp!

NWEA TESTING WINDOW TO OPEN SOON
Reminder about Vacations
Amerman, along with all Northville elementary schools, frequently monitors data to inform instruction. In addition to the daily formative assessments our teachers use to make in-the-moment decisions, we also administer the NWEA three times a year. It is important that students are in school (and rested!) for these dates. District-wide, we will not be making up NWEA testing that is missed because of vacation unless the data is deemed necessary for MTSS decisions.

LEADER IN ME FEBRUARY FOCUS - HABIT 5
Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood
What this means: Listen before you talk. In order to communicate effectively, we must first understand each other.
“I listen to other people’s ideas and feelings.”
“I try to see things from their viewpoints.”
“I listen to others without interrupting.”
“I am confident in voicing my ideas.”
“I look people in the eyes when talking.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. Listen.
2. Put yourself in the other person’s place.
3. Notice a person’s body language, tone, and reflection in their voice.
