Dear EWS Families and Students:
Our Book Fair was a huge success!
Thanks to so many of you who supported the book fair through your purchases and to those who volunteered to help at the “Fair”, it made for a truly wonderful experience for the students.
The children will be so thrilled when I share all the wonderful NEW books as a result of the fair and they get to see them on the shelves of the Becky Shiaris Library at Eames Way School.
Happy Reading and thanks again,
Laura Clancy, Librarian

THURSDAY, COMFY SHOE DAY
With the change in the weather as we enter the winter months, we will see an increase in the number of respiratory viruses. Here are a few tips to stay healthy and stop the spread.
Practice hand hygiene frequently with soap and water or hand sanitizer.
Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue. If a tissue is not available, cover them with an elbow, not a hand.
Clean high-touch surfaces in your home frequently with household disinfectants.
Keep your child home from school if they have a fever, especially in combination with a cough, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, congestion, runny nose, or sore throat. They should remain home until they are fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medications.
Avoid social gatherings if you or your children are ill.
Proper handwashing, nutrition, adequate hydration, and regular sleep are the best ways to prevent illness. These strategies also shorten the duration of an illness.
Cold Weather Gear: Please be sure students dress in layers for school- they need warm weather gear to enjoy recess. If students do not have appropriate warm weather/snow gear their outside activities may be somewhat limited so they stay warm and safe. Also, don’t forget those sneakers on Physical Education days!
Also, don’t forget those sneakers on Physical Education days as we do not loan sneakers at school for hygiene reasons.
Absences: Upon returning to school after any absence, a child is required to have a note/email from a parent/guardian. A doctor’s note is required if a student is out five (5) or more consecutive days. If an absence is due to a communicable disease or a bone fracture, a doctor’s note is required the day the student returns to school. To assist us in providing the best possible care for your child, please keep your school nurse informed of any illness or injury via a written note/email which should include any recess limitations.
Annual Screenings: Hearing and vision screenings are wrapping up this month. If it is recommended that your child needs to be referred for further vision or hearing assessment, you will be contacted by the school nurse.
Snacks and Water Bottles: Please remember to send your child to school each day with a healthy snack and a refillable water bottle.
Physical Exams: If you have a child in Preschool, Kindergarten, or fourth grade and have not sent in an updated physical exam, please do so as soon as possible. You can send the updated physical form in your child’s backpack, email it to the school nurse at awhite@mpsd.org, or ask the pediatrician to fax the most recent physical to 781-834-5094.
Thank you!
Please reach out with any questions or concerns.
