We had a blast touring the Cheyenne & Arapaho bison herds in Concho this April! We learned a lot about these amazing animals, and we even got to feed one very special bison named Keifer. He was found abandoned as a baby and was hand-reared by tribal members. He's still a wild animal, but he's tamer than most buffalo and made fast friends with our students!
We had so much fun at our April meeting learning to play stickball with our friends from the Choctaw Nation Cultural Outreach program!
For the second year in a row, we partnered with MHS FCCLA to volunteer at Feed the Children! We packed 12 pallets of boxes filled with personal hygeine products to serve over 600 families in the area.
At our March meeting, our friends from the Absentee Shawnee Tribe taught us about the importance of corn in their culture and showed us how to make beaded ears of corn!
At our December & January meetings, we made miniature ribbon skirts!
We partnered with our middle school Native American Clubs to attend the OKC Thunder Native American Student Day on November 20! We also got to attend the Thunder vs. Blazers game that evening for Native American Heritage Night! Thunder up! ๐๐งก
