Happy New Year! These first few weeks back to school have been a little crazy as we faced snow and rising COVID numbers. The support from our LPS families during these unexpected changes has been very much appreciated! We appreciate everyone working together to keep our students safe and healthy! As we finish up the month of January and look forward to February, we hope that we will see things calm down and we can settle back into our routines.

All lost and found items have been organized by color and can be located in the lobby at the front entrance of the school. It is OVERFLOWING! Please check for items ASAP as we will have to donate any remaining items on February 2. Mrs. Davis will roll the cart out front on Tuesday at 1:30, but families can stop by the school anytime Monday-Friday from 7:20-6:00 to check for lost items. Thanks for your help in the is matter!

Every Tuesday at 1:30-2:00, join Mrs. Davis out front to check out instructional resources to use with your child at home. She is available to talk through ideas and needs with you and provide resources as we work together to make sure our students reach their highest potential! If you can't make it during this time, feel free to email her at hannahdavis@pickens.k12.sc.us and she will be glad to send home any needed resources.

We are so sorry to have to temporarily suspend our visitors at lunch right now. We hope to resume once COVID numbers begin decreasing. Thank you so much for understanding and for helping us keep our students and staff healthy.

Save the Date for Kindergarten Registration! It’s almost time for 3K, 4K, and 5K students to enroll for the 2022-23 school year! SDPC will start registration for the 2022-23 school year beginning in February. Parents can begin the registration process online now by entering their information into the New Student Gateway: https://www.pickens.k12.sc.us/page/new-student-gateway Schools will use this registration to contact parents of potential 3K and 4K students to set up screening appointments. More information regarding 3K and 4K programs for the 2022-23 school year will be available in February. Good Morning! As we continue to see COVID cases on the rise throughout the county, please remember to use the COVID reporting link specific for LPS. There is no need to the call the school to report a COVID circumstance. Use the link and someone from the school will be in touch. Please be patient as we work through many situations. If your child has COVID symptoms, tests positive for COVID, or has been exposed to COVID, please use this form to report the information. Thanks for helping us keep everyone healthy!

In February, we will be doing a Rocky Top Pop fundraiser. The flyer will be sent home the week of January 31st and all orders will be due on February 3! Make plans to get some yummy popcorn for your Valentine!

If any of your information changes throughout the year (phone number, address, etc.), please use the information below to make the needed changes.

Any student information that needs to be updated (phone numbers, contact information, or address) can be made at the below website:

Please note, if you are making an address change, you will need to provide a new proof of residency-see below for acceptable items that can be used to make this change. You can upload the documents into the gateway, send in with your student, email to jenihumphrey@pickens.k12.sc.us, fax to (864)843-4692 or stop by the front office for someone to make a copy.

Proof of residency-a full bill with service address, company name, current billing date and name all visible.

Proof of Residence-Must be one of the following:

• Gas Bill
• Water Bill
• Electric Bill

Can be Cable or Satellite Bill if it states the Service address as home address of student. If any of these are not available in the legal parent/guardian name, an affidavit will need to be filled out at the school by the parent/guardian and the person whose name is on the bill

Morning Arrival:

The left-hand lane should be used for all students in 4K -2nd grade. The left-hand lane should also be used if you are pulling into the parking lot. The Right lane should be used for all 3K, Pups academy, and Montessori classes. If you have more than one child follow the guidance for your youngest child. As a reminder car arrival starts at 7:20 and ends at 7:50 each morning. If you are looking for a less crowded time 7:25-7:40 is great. Please be mindful that the sun is an issue at this time of the year in the morning.

Afternoon Pickup:

You can enter either lane. If your child happens to be a recall please pull into the handicap parking spots and wait for a staff member to walk your child to you.

LPS School day will be from 7:50 AM - 2:15 PM

• Students will be able to enter the building at 7:20 AM. Doors will open promptly at 7:20 AM.

Tech It Home Fees will be collected from all students in grades K-2. All K-2 students will receive a device to go home this school year. Devices are not to go home until the fee is paid and we have cleared students to begin taking them home. Parents may pay by cash, check or on My School Bucks.
