Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.

Mrs Brown would like to give a special mention to Morgan F, Debony R, Oliver M and Dylan M for excellent commitment this week as always and for a fantastic attendance record - perfect! In particular, Nick T who has been mentioned by several teachers as working really hard since returning to school this term.

PE Students of the week this week are:
Lara 7TE, Rene 8CA, Amie Leigh 9CO, Samuel 10SW and Logan 11ST. Sport Science students Erin 10SW and Ashley 11T. Finally, Year 12 Sport and Physical Activity student Macauley.
Maths:
Mr Lee has nominated the following students this week:
Year 7 students, Alicja (7CU) for scoring full marks on her most recent assessment. Also nominated are Emily and Gabija (7CU) for their continued commitment to learning.
Year 8 students Kacper and Kyle (8ST) for excellent work in our averages unit, in particular with the problem solving questions.
In Year 9, Joe, Isla, Faizah and Jacson for making excellent progress in their assessment.
Year 10 students Louis, Shamiso, Dagan, Darcey, Beth, Ryan, Aimee, Fabian and Zofia for a consistently high standard of work in this weeks lessons.
For Year 11, Mr Lee has nominated the class for their effort since returning to school. In particular, Adrijus, Antony, Declan, Lukasz and Rebekah for their proactive attitude in preparation for next weeks paper. Well done everyone!
Music:
Year 7
Mr Green would like to nominate Orla and Ava for excellent progress in their drumming during lockdown. They have been practicing really hard at home. He would also like to celebrate Daniel H who made a great start to lessons and shows a lot of potential.
Ava M in 7CA is celebrating achieving a distinction in her Grade 2 Electric Guitar exam. Ava said, ‘it was harder doing the exam because I had to do it online, but I’m very happy with my result, and looking forward to Grade 3 as I will be playing Nirvana’s "Smells like teen spirit". Fantastic news, Ava! Well done we are so proud of you!
Year 8
Miss Jenkins would like to nominate Roman G from 8CA and Lucy D and Toby R from 8TA who all had great technique with the Drum sticks and managed to play some complex sticking patterns.
Year 9
Miss Jenkins would like to nominate Matthew B and Harley H from 9ST for persisting with learning a piece of music on the ukulele using TAB, even when it was really challenging. They both persevered and got there in the end – well done!
Miss Patrick would like to nominate 9CA for their brilliant start to Ukulele – well done to everybody! Special mention to Cameron B for his resilience in learning a new skill. She would also like to celebrate Jasaau and James for their technical ability in attempting a complex strumming pattern.
English:
Year 11 English - Mrs Brown is so proud of her Year 11 English groups for stepping up this last week and completing some excellent work in class. Special mentions go to Sam C, Carmen C, Tamsyn D, Brady H, Ines T in Literature. For Jayden M, Shay D, Katie L, Andrew L, Alyssa S, Darci R, Arnas V and Pacey H in Language. And Alicia R and Lacy in my intervention groups.
Year10 English have been working on annotating the poem Kamikaze with Mrs Brown. Fantastic independent work from Alex C, Jayme-Leigh S, Oscar S. And in our language work a big well done to Bethany S and Josie Y for building good responses to a language analysis.
In Year 9, wonderful work on The Crucible from the whole group. A special mention to Danils P, Olivia W, Kia S, Tim P, Julia D and Louis M for showing great understanding of the play so far.
Ms Hallybone has nominated 10B1 English class for fantastic speeches.
Humanities:
Mrs Vaghadia has nominated Year 9 RSCS students Dennis, Tanya and Isla for their excellent contribution to the lesson. Also nominated are Year 11 Sociology students who have been working super hard and staying focused and for their great classroom contribution
Miss Buffini has nominated Year 9 student Kent for his hard work in History.
Miss Bird has nominated Dougan, Kailyn, Ugne, Kirat and Amy (7TA) who worked super hard during their Geography revision this week! Hopefully the hard work will pay off in their assessment! Stas and Paula have made an excellent start to their first official term in school and made a wonderful contribution to the 8CO tutor family. Also nominated are 10C History who have had a really productive week last week – Keep up the good work!
Miss Gilbert has nominated Year 10 student Tearlach who has completed great work this week while looking into Fairtrade in Geography! Well done Tearlach! Also nominated is Year 9 student Chanelle A (9ST) for contributing immensely to all Geography lessons especially when talking about rich versus poor in urban areas. Lastly, well done to Tyler (8TE) for always helping to read out in class and contribute all answers in the lesson. Keep up the good work!
Art:
Mrs Vaghadia has nominated 7SI Art for working really hard on their pop art work and producing amazing pieces well done.
Mrs Firmin would like to day well done to 7CO for some phenomenal work in Art this week – all producing some excellent quality and quantity of Pop Art work. Well done! 9CO also did some AMAZING drawing in Art this week – they made a super effort on some challenging tasks. Its very difficult to single any out, but Chae-Thai, Kent, Matthew, Corina, Ana, Melissa, Mason, Yunus and Kieron all did exceptionally well.
DT/Engineering:
Mrs Firmin would like to say well done to her Year 10 Food students for their excellent effort on exam style questions, in particular Aimee, Leila, Courtney, AJ, Gus, Daniel, Dagan, Erin, Danielle, Eddie, Denisa and Ellie.
Miss Buffini has nominated Year 9 student Alex for his hard work in DT.
Drama:
Mr Cox has nominated his Year11 Drama students for their hard work learning and preparing their monologues.
Ms Hallybone has nominated Year 11 Drama students for being very resilient and working hard on their monologues.
Science:
The Science team would like to say how proud they of Year 11 this week. They continue to work hard and ask great questions in and out of lessons.
Year 10 students Hayden G, Gus, Daniel and Eddie in 10BP1 have been working really hard this week.
Year 7 students have completed revision on content learned during the last lock down, and they are showing us how much they engaged and learnt during that time. Keep it up!

Reminders:
- Please ensure all students have face masks for use at school.
- School is closed Friday 2nd April (Good Friday) and Monday 5th April (Easter Monday), and will reopen Tuesday 6th April.
- Monday 12th April is a Brooke Weston Trust training day and school will be closed to students.
