Principal's Message
Good afternoon Canby High School Students and Families!
It has been a great start to Homecoming Week! From hall decorating to dress up days to the coronation assembly, we have already had some fun and exciting activities. We are looking forward to the homecoming parade this evening as well as a spirit assembly, football, and the dance in the next few days.
Construction is also in full swing. We had a large concrete pour and many of the footings of the new wing are in place. Check out some pictures of the progress as well as a link to the live cam where you can see the new building take shape. We are so proud of our students who are partnering with the architects and construction teams to help with the building of models, designing of signage, and distribution of information. It is awesome to have these real world learning opportunities on our campus.
Looking forward to next week, we have a Pack the Stands Night for both our Mens’ and Womens’ Soccer teams and another home football game. There is no school on Friday for Professional Development and Grading Day. Please save the date for conferences on Wednesday, 10/19. We are doing them virtually via Zoom as we heard from parents and staff that the online format worked better. Please look for more information next week about how to sign up.
As we experience Homecoming, it is so fun to witness students leaning in and making memories. I am so grateful for our students, staff, and community that make CHS a special place. Have a wonderful week.
Best,
Cari Sloan

Bus routes are posted on our transportation web page and will be updated a few times each year, but for the latest route information and to track your student’s bus in real time, use the Traversa Ride 360 app – available online and for free in the App Store and Google.
As you know, at Canby High, students come first. Our aim is to ensure both their safety and comfort, and resolve any issues that could result in any student not feeling comfortable at school. If a student in PE is looking for an alternative dress down area, please see their instructor. This may include team rooms inside the locker room or a single use locker room.

Attendance at CHS
To ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our attendance process, please remember the following guidelines:
If your student needs to leave class for an appointment or because they are sick, inform the attendance office 30 MINUTES PRIOR to leave time. This will help us ensure that your student receives a note to leave class in a timely manner. Students will not be excused without a note.
Pre-excused absence forms need to be turned into the Attendance Secretary 24 hours PRIOR to leaving for the absence.
To report an absence, call our attendance line at 503-263-7210 or email chs-attendance@canby.k12.or.us.
Please report an absence as soon as possible and no later than 48 hours after the absence.
Remember that attendance matters and students who attend class regularly are more likely to stay on track, graduate on time, learn deeply, and get the most from their high school experience.
