Columbia Central Weekly Bulletin
Week of December 11th
What's Happening This Week: 🏀🎺📘
Greetings Parents and Guardians,
I hope your week is off to a great start.
We had a wonderful turn out for the Senior Dinner and the Beginning Band concert two weeks ago. Both were well received by our guests and folks that were in attendance. Please take note of some photos of these events below. We have a Choir Concert this Thursday at 6:30. We hope to see you there as it's always a great show.
You will see the PBIS themes for each day next week, in the flyer below, in honor of Spirit Week. We have an aniti-bullying assembly on Monday, December 18. Matt Wilhem, our speaker, will show off his BMX skills in our gym while promoting anti-bullying strategies. Wednesday, December 20, we are hosting a movie viewing right after school for fifth grade students that have no more than one referral this trimester. We will be serving popcorn free of charge. Also, we are serving a treat for students on Friday, December 22, for students that have not received a referral from December 12 to December 21. More details will be coming soon.
We know this is a rough time of the year for some of our students. Our staff is working hard to support our students in making positive choices and decisions as get close to the Winter Break.
Let's make it a great week!

SEL Second Step Program
Dear Parents,
In this week’s Second Step lesson, your child will practice breaking down situations that feel big and unmanageable into smaller, more manageable pieces. They will also practice identifying a small change someone could make to manage their strong emotions the next time a situation occurs. Your child will also discuss different types of bullying and increase their awareness that bullying can look and feel different in each situation. Your child will learn how to recognize harassment and tell how it’s different from bullying.
Try This at Home
Ask your child what they can change to make a situation that feels big and unmanageable better and why they chose that action. You could also ask your child if they have recently experienced bullying or negative jokes. You could encourage them to tell you how it made them feel and let them know you will support them.
