What is the presentation about?
Educators, Assemble! In your quest for truth, justice, and the technology way, you need as many tools in your teacher utility toolbelt as you can for students to create content and be engaged. These ten student productivity Web 2.0 tools are particularly effective, road tested, easy to use, and FREE. Tools discussed include Infuse Learnng, VideoANT, Thinglink, Storify, iPadio, and more! The PD is one hour and open to the entire district. Presentation will occur in the Collins Auditorium.
Who is presenting?
ADAM WATSON (NBCT) has been an educator since 2005. In his first year, he taught English and Drama at Bullitt Central High School. From 2006 to 2014, Adam was a teacher at South Oldham High School, where he taught English, AP Literature and Composition, Drama, Myths and Legends, and a film studies class; he was voted Teacher of the Year in 2009. Adam's educational accomplishments, particularly in technology, have earned him various accolades, such as the cover story of Kentucky Teacher (April 2009) and a mention in NCTE's international newsletter INBOX (February 2009). He has written articles for NCTE's Classroom Notes Plus (October 2010) and the British user-created book profile website Book Drum (June 2011). In 2011, Adam founded and co-led the teacher-centered edtech support community for his district, the Oldham County Technology Initiative, or OCTI. A grant in 2013 allowed him to purchase class sets of New York Times best selling author Ian Doescher's William Shakespeare's Star Wars: Verily, A New Hope; Adam created and implemented a freshmen English unit based on the book in April 2014. The Core Content-aligned unit culminated in students engaging in a Skype interview with the author. He eventually shared the unit materials online and it soon went viral. In July 2014, Adam became the first District Technology Integration Coach of Shelby County.
