Gale Escape Room Activity
Engage your students with an interactive Ancient Civilizations Escape Room while using your Gale in Context: Middle School database! This escape room activity will allow for students to learn about Ancient Civilizations while collaborating with peers to complete interactive tasks while using Gale in Context: Middle School. In this Escape Room activity, you will see detailed teacher instructions, clear student directions, engaging task cards, and student activity sheets. Print the activity and have your students login to the device they are comfortable with to get started.
You can also use our Escape Room Template that allows for you to implement this interactive activity with the content or topic area of your choice while using Gale in Context: Middle School.
Make sure to check out our other content specific materials here and be sure not to miss any of these fun activities and projects! All of our materials are based on feedback from schools, so we are interested to hear both success stories and ways we can modify materials to make them more accessible for your students. If you have any questions about these activities or would like to provide any feedback, please use this link: https://calendly.com/emily-woolston to schedule a time for us to connect!
Professional Development
Click the link to the Upcoming Professional Development S'more below to see what we are offering this Fall. This has been updated with a Newsela offering in March that would be great for librarians as well as content area teachers so please feel free to share.
Unless otherwise stated in the Frontline description, all workshops will be held in person this year. We will follow WSWHE BOCES and health department guidance at the time of each workshop. If there is a need to go virtual, participants will be notified as soon as possible.
What's Happening in your Library?
Balloons and Robots and Parades, Oh My!
Annmarie Dumar created a collaborative project between her first and fourth grade students at Thanksgiving this year. She writes, "We read Balloons Over Broadway in first grade, then they worked with a partner to design a balloon. 4th graders came down to help them create their balloons and to use robots to make the balloon move in front of our green screen. Then we used WeVideo to create our parade."
Check out the finished product below.
We are looking for news to share with the region about what's happening in your library. Did you spruce up a section of your library? Complete a recent genrefication and/or weeding project? Have a display or event that went well? If you answered yes to any of these questions or have something else you'd like to share, send us a short (1-2 paragraphs) write up along with a couple pictures and we will feature it here.
